This is old news from last week, so I assume that all available copies are gone from store shelves.

They stole backgrounds, items, and dialogue from other video games and then proceeded to make their own. Now they are in trouble . . . I wonder why?

That entire thread is pretty damn incredible....

Kind of like a movie coming out about a creature called "The Incredible Bulk" that just happens to feature a scientist altered by Gamma Rays into turning large and green when agitated...but the writer claiming he came up with the idea totally on his own. Wow. I'd love to have a copy of this game, sure to be a collector's item!

Addition to US Senate Housing Bill that could effect US eBay sellers.

If I read the last paragraph correctly it will effect sellers that have more than 200 transactions per year.

Seems to place a requirement on eBay that they provide the IRS with annual reports of seller activity.

I'm beginning to wonder if eBay saw a tax coming and is intentionally driving out small-timers in order to streamline their operations. They may have thought they would have to report transactions for EVERY eBay user.
So if you pay with Paypal, they must have to report the data.
This is getting pretty convoluted. The government is trying to hone in on the future, thinking that web-based transactions are the next big thing. They are right, but they'll meet with a LOT of opposition.

If you hit a Rowsdower, you get to keep it.

I do not recall eBay asking for my social security # when I created my account and sold my first item, so how could they report my activities? Yes, eBay user "riuhfreijhfghv" did X and Y last year - we don't know who he is. He gave us this address and this email, but either could be inaccurate.

When eBay asks for my personal details, they can stop having me as a "customer." No one gets that information online. Ever.

For anybody that has a paypal account they would have had to provide some information about either a bank account or credit card at some point.

With that basic information it would not take a great leap to associate a seller account to a specific individual.

I can forsee a great many sellers no longer accepting paypal if that is the case.

Of course I can see errors being made and people having difficulties trying to get things sorted.

As a Canadian citizen I am not worried about the IRS however, anything that would add to eBay's administration costs would end up being passed along as fee increases.

Looking at them, I'm thinking that they might be a touch too small for books, which is why I'm curious if anyone has tried them yet.

Continuing on this topic: Mine showed up today. (Actually, they showed up Thursday but the mail carrier never tries to deliver anything, preferring to leave a "you weren't home pick up your parcel at ______" notification even when someone is home. I wonder if I should try to get another one fired... :twisted:
