Philflound wrote in CGC Grading Etc...:Just got 2 copies of S1 in today for grading from someone. Both are first prints. One has a blue interior cover print and the other has a light green. I remember something similar with I believe another module where the printed map on the interior cover came in 2 different color shades, though for the life of me, can't remember which adventure. There is nothing here about S1 having 2 different color interior for the cover. Anyone have an idea. I am not breaking out a variation on this, but if S1 does come in 2 different color cover interiors, I may note it on the label. Thanks.Phil
Philflound wrote in CGC Grading Etc...:After reviewing these 3 books in the system, I matched the 8.5 and 7.5 with the finalizer. I actually gave a 6.5 to the last one and the finalizer thought it was good enough for a 7.0. So the grades are accurate. Without seeing them up close again, my guess is that the creasing is what is lowering the grade and is probably best seen looking on an angle. The scans are straight at the modules, so you can't see the defects.Phil

They are just lighter, much more flexible and harder to have a color breaks. Turning the module cover like a comic page, and not like a plank of wood, could reduce a grade. That doesnt matter if you are reading it, and that is what these are for. It only matters if you are trying to preserve the copy. Modules also seem to have more factory defects, like frays on spines and damage from shrink. Small spine splits, or folds, are also on a number of my modules. I need to look through the pop reports a bit more, but there are several modules in the 4.0-5.0 range. And I assume this is folks sending in their best? Folks arent paying $25-$50 to grade a module they know they can buy for that price. Now, I am going to make up some numbers...I assume 80% of first edition modules would grade 5.0 or lower. Maybe 10% more up to a 6.0. The last 10% may fall 6.5 or higher.

Tszii wrote in CGC Grading Etc...:I will be sending in a some supplements, and maybe a Tunnels and Trolls Monsters! Monsters!, here soon. I seem to have an addiction to anticipation.
aia wrote in CGC Grading Etc...:Pls post the youtube link if possible!I started watching it and i am confused: i understood from a previous conversation that in case of a SWed module, the grading process required to remove the shrink before slabbing it in the case... now i got the contrary: the shrink is not removed and there will be a kind of second grading (the first for the contents, the second for the shrink)... did i understand correctly?
