I have thought quite a bit about both, but need more IP owner engagement to make that happen.

However, none of that will pay for my sons' looming college educations, our mortgage, the bills, etc. ;)

Is this just Baby EGG trying to shit on everything his father achieved in building the TSR brand?
Is this EGG trying to fleece the public again using his name to beg for $50K in donations?
Where's the $100K in donations that were made to the last Kickstarter?
I wonder how bad can he piss on his family heritage and I what strain that puts on his more noble siblings?

This week I've been mostly eating . . . The white ones with the little red flecks in them.

The leader of the pack, so to speak, is a fellow from North Carolina with the initials JL.  It appears he's the one spearheading all of this nonsense.  EGG JR seems to be along for the ride, hoping it ends somewhere with a positive cash flow.  This entire endeavor has never been about celebrating the history of gaming in Lake Geneva, it's always been a cash grab (JL admitted to as much in private messages).

Maybe its me and I've reached an age where stupid crap bothers me way more than it should.  Reading this I'm sure doesn't help.

Do people really think that fantastical creatures like beholders and mind flayers are recognized or relatable to supremacists and slavers?

I understand that cultural norms are constantly 'evolving' and there is always stuff that should have been left on the cutting room floor but removing anything and everything edgy just removes character and richness from the game.

In my opinion, precisely because racism is evil, it's acceptable to have fantasy worlds where such evil creatures exist and can be fought and destroyed.  Assault on the Aerie of the Slave Lords is exhibit A of this thinking.  The slave lords could have just as easily been a beholder and illithids.  Companies and people have to realize that massaging people's feelings is a whack-a-mole endeavor.   Just like, getting everyone to agree on what WTOC should do in this situation is a lost cause.  If someone is offended, let them leave.  Which is exactly what we did when 3rd edition came out.  :?

Truth is worth finding and life is too short to work for money.

Yes. If you teach a creature to believe and segregate everything it sees in the world into specific pigeon holes, and assign value to the things within those boxed based on perceived struggle and victimhood, and you drum it into those creatures every day for 20 years that they will only be approved of and loved in society based on how easily they can draw those invisible boxes and how accurately they can self-regulate their value system to match those of others in their species, then everything that creature sees becomes viewed through a lens of segregation and box picking, and evaluation on a good vs. evil scale.

Why nation would choose to do that to their children is curious and only goes to show how dumb human beings are.

I agree. But it makes our books more relevant and historic. The forbidden fruit that needed to be banned. Even though its completely irrelevant to how people choose to play.

Is there anyone who remember this game?

** expired/removed eBay auction **

...i do not think i ever played it, but the 4-disk picture arose a lot of memories from the past!

One of my favourite games was drakken (for Amiga)... What a great game!

All the ultima chapters were the state of the art to my eyes at that time... (I have played to some of them and not all though...)

There is an "Ultimate" Ultima collection out there on CDs (I have a copy).

Starts with Akalabeth and goes all the way to Ultima VII - with all the add-ons.

Akalabeth - I remember playing that on my buddy's Apple II plus. Seems like forever ago.

Drakkhen was a great game on the Amiga!

I was a huge fan of the Commodore Amiga for many years.  Still have some of the computers stored away, but sold most of my collection many years ago.

Not sure if you are aware but you can still get Drakkhen on GOG, if you have a desire to play it again.  It's for the PC, so not exactly the same experience as on the Amiga, but it's amazingly still available.  It's only $1.74 right now, and they maintain the compatibility.

Drakkhen (GOG)

I love GOG for DRM free old-school games.  I've picked up all the old SSI Gold Box titles, and many more games from them.  They have the King's Quest, Ultima, and Wizardry series too, and many other games!  They often have discounts on them.

You can also find the original on the Internet and run it with an emulator, if you are willing/able to do it that way.

I don't know if it still works - haven't fired it up in years.
Worked back on windows 7/8.  Might be available on Steam.

Oh, in addition to the Ultima series, Akalabeth is also available for free on GOG. :)

Akalabeth: World of Doom (GOG)

You probably have seen that GOG supports multiple OSs, and they keep updating the games to be compatible with the latest OS.

Unfortunately I have not seen the Black Isle compilations available on GOG, but most of The Black Isle Studios games are available.  They will run sales on these once in a while, especially around the holidays.  Sometimes they will have nice bundle discounts too.
