Actually, that's not too farfetched. At this point, I'm regularly getting $20-$25 each for 1st edition original cover rulebooks in Excellent condition.

The availability has certainly been reduced. Though they are still relatively plentiful, you don't see the hordes of them as you did a couple years ago.

I will say that, in general, this true. Of course timing is everything. But if you can lay your hands on a mint 6th print, you can probably generate anywhere from $10-20 for it. Now this can vary, but I think the numbers are solid. If you can put together NM copies of the big three (MM, DMG, PHB) of mid-printings, $40 is not impossible, but probably likely.
Simply, finding them in NM condition is getting more difficult - as compared to even a year or two ago.

No neither of those are rare - they were very mass produced.  The rare one is the one that says RPGA across the front.  Even those haven't gone for much lately either.  A seller from the UK sold a bunch (5 maybe?) in the summer - I picked one up for about $15 I think.

Why would you think that the seller is a member here?     And a lot of these arent even custom sculpts, they are simply figures from other toy lines made to look like D&D figures.  For instance this Ringlerun figure:

Looks like the seller took a Dremel tool to the beard a bit and had his grandma make some custom robes to look like Ringlerun's.  If you look closely, the staff is exactly the same in both pictures.  The mouth, mustache, and eyebrows are also the same.

Why throw away a perfectly good Phoenix figure to make a ridicuous looking 'fire elemental'?  Been awhile since I cracked open the Monster Manual but I dont remember the fire elemental having wings.

Yup, seems a bit high.  The other one went for the same, didn't state it had contact paper, and came with two other mods thrown in.  



I took a couple low stabs at em, but they were sniped into the stratosphere.  Incidentally, anybody else think eBay was more fun when you could see the other bidders?
