I saw the movie Amazing Spiderman 2, and it was O.K. It seemed to go back and forth between story lines, emotional character interactions, and CGI fights scenes, rinse and repeat. The special effects were good enough and the actors were.....acting, but story was here and there and everywhere. Marvel has made this mistake before when they are too ambitious and try to cram too many bad guys, stories and ideas into one movie. Not good. Stan Lee makes his cameo appearance, again, but even that's meh. I think the only thing that worked was the occasional humor.

I saw it in IMAX, and I am not convinced it helped the story enough to warrant the extra expense. There is one bonus scene after some of the credits, but it's not even related to the Spiderman movie as it's basically an X-Men: Days of Future Past preview. More movie whiplash. Previews are best before the movie starts. See the movie if you want, but you might want to take a neck brace.

I'm looking at my collection from 1974 thru the printing of the MM, and I wanted to go all-OCD and put it in chronological order, and also figure out if there are gaps that need to be filled.

I saw the movie, X-Men: Days of Future Past, today, and I liked it. It is a winding, twisting tale, but I never got lost. I think most everyone knows this is a time travel tale, and those can get quite confusing, but this one mostly makes sense. Several new X-Men have significantly more action in this movie, in particular, Quicksilver. There is one sequence where he really shines. There are a couple of good lines in the movie too. The special effects are good enough and the actors are good enough. The villain is not quite bad enough, but he is human enough. The movie also balances character development and action fairly well. The main thing they got right in the movie is that they cared as much about the story as the special effects.

I don't know if it comes out in IMAX format, but I hear the 3D version is good. I however, saw the regular, cheaper version. Stay after the credits are over for a brief glimpse of the villain in the next X-Men movie. You'll really have to know your X-Men comics to figure this out without any hints. I couldn't guess who it was.

All in all, it was good, but not quite as satisfying as some other Marvel movies, like the most recent Captain America movie. I would definitely say it is worth seeing in the theater.

High Elf, High on Acid, Attacks Woman's BMW With a Sword

'Portland, Ore. police responded to a 911 call at around 7 a.m. Tuesday morning from a woman who believed her car was under attack by a pirate. But instead of a routine pirate attackâ€”oh, Portlandâ€”they discovered an armored man who claimed he was a High Elf. He was at least half right. Although the man, dressed in chain mail and helmet, and equipped with sword, staff, and shield, wasn't actually an elf, he was definitely high. Konrad Bass, 30, of Glendale, Ore., told officers he had taken LSD, and also identified himself as a "high-elf engaged in battle with the evil Morgoth." He was cited for criminal mischief and taken to a hospital. ..Bass is also involved in Live Action Roleplaying (shocking!) and writes fantasy novels under the name Konrad McKane. Last time he dropped acid, he turned into a dragon.'

Raises the bar for all of us, I'd say.

I saw it today. Wasn't expecting much since I had seen a few reviews really beat the tar out of it. Not to mention the last few Bryan Singer movies have been critical or financial flops (Valkyrie, Superman Returns, Jack the Giant Slayer). It was a very enjoyable, entertaining movie for the most part. Maybe not as good as X-Men 2 but I thought it outdid the previous Thor effort and was light years beyond the latest Amazing Spider-Man installment (complete shit IMHO). Full of time-travel plot holes and semi-confusing "what was the point of that" moments. But it was also full of action, humor, and cheesy 70's fun.

I must agree that the Quicksilver scenes were very cool. That and you get to see just about every X-Man that has been in one of the movies from past, present and future at some point during the film. Not enough Havok and where did Pyro run off to? He didn't show up at all. And since I am a fount of X-Men lore....the after credits scene was of Apocalypse and his Four Horsemen. Question is....which of the horsemen will show up in the next film? Would like to see Archangel, Holocaust, Abyss and Sunfire. An appearance by Mr. Sinister would be cool but probably over the top since he is such an odd and powerful character.

Edit: And the futuristic Sentinels were very cool. For anyone familiar with Alan Moore's Captain Britain you will notice a striking similarity to the "unstoppable amalgam of flesh & metal" known as The Fury.

Just an interesting factoid.

There's a development near-ish to my home town that has the following street names:

Palin Ct
Parsallion Ct.
Valenwood Drive.
Tanin Ct.

The builders were quite obviously Dragonlance fans.

I wonder if there's any other street names like this out there.

The townhouse development across the main street from me has streets with the following names: Sangreal, Tristram, Pendragon, Balin, Castle, Quest, and Sport. Always found that interesting.

i have my modules in order by the letter code..A1, B1, so on and so on. It's not in order by year but it sure is easy to locate in the boxes. I do keep inventory on the pc consisting of the letter code first, title second, year of release and which printing third, and tsr code last......A1 Slave Pits of the Undercity 1980 3rd Print TSR9039

i do that with pretty much all TSR modules for every gaming system. It works for me

Although there is still more data to hash out: A1 was released with a wizard logo, but C2, with a lower product code (by one digit), was released with a face logo. Meanwhile they were releasing the last monochrome (DM Log) around the same time (two digits lower than C2).

ok but i don't get your point. doesn't the printing determine which logo was used? lizard is usually a first? wizard 2nd or 3rd? and face 3rd or 4th and later?

i just use that method because it's easier for me at least to find in the magazine boxes. it does however cause problems with supplements and publications without a alphabetical code
