I am not a board game junky like some, but I have small collection of popular games as you can see in the image below. I have been playing Gloomhaven for several months now with three other players on a regular basis. I stayed away from this game for a while even though there was a lot of positive buzz around it as I thought it was something I wouldnt like as I already play D&D regularly, so why would I want to play a board game that is sort of the same thing, right? Well, I was wrong in thinking this. I actually really like playing it. Its not the same feel as your typical Pen and Paper RPG. Its a different experience, yet a very fun one that is right down my alley. Even months in, were still having a lot of fun playing.

Story is well done. The mystery as things progress is stellar and its my favorite board game from my collection.

Unusual dice. The UK sure doesn’t sell them and looking for Haxtec dice here, the price is double what you guys get them
for it seems in the US.
Not that I’m buying them, but the price discrepancy is frustrating.

The tragedy of the Arecibo radiotelescope collapse cuts me close and deep. Apart from being Puerto Rican and proud of its achievements in astronomy and culture in general, my father (d. 2020) built the Visitor's Center in 1995. He was extremely proud of this as it was technically difficult and financially very challenging (I bid the job and terribly underbid, so he was trying to help his boy).

It is unconscionable what the NSF did. They cut funding systematically for decades. They just let it die. :evil:

If they built a visitor center around the same time as it appeared on the X-Files and James Bond, it sounds like they were already worried about money. The mid-'90s was a time of budget cuts for a great deal of federal funding.
