No.  If someone does buy it, they are uninformed.  It's in poor condition.

Given the highest price recently paid for one of these was a straight sale for $1000, for a VF/NM condition copy, I think this price is out there in the twilight zone.

The seller is either ignorant of what these are worth, or trolling for someone to rip off.  Looking at the other listings they have currently, most items are in the stratosphere.

I would say the later. This seller has several names on eBay and their prices are always extremely high.

I have a very nice minty copy of a later printing in shrink, so they're definitely out there!

Allan.

I think the point that is attempting to be made Allan is whether any copy (including yours) is legitimate shrinkwrap, i.e. done by TSR. Because if it was done by anyone else (including retail stores) it could be internally defaced. So that you have one that is in shrinkwrap is by itself not enough (for purposes of this discussion). If you see what I mean... Now having written that, I have an eight printing Chainmail in VF+ condition (because shrinkwrap is not a condition) that I have believed to be in original shrinkwrap, and the shrinkwrap appears to be similar to other shrinkwrapped products from that era. At Gamehole Con last year a shrinkwrapped Chainmail came up for auction and I opined that it was not original shrink and the seller graciously and wisely decided to allow me to remove the shrinkwrap. Upon seeing that the interior contents were in beautiful shape, it sold for more than I believe it would have otherwise.

Some nice photos, making this auction the closest look that most of us will ever have of these relics. Finally, I know that a balrog gets 2 attacks, inflicting damage of "1-12 with sword, 2-12, 3-18, or 4-24 according to size." All these years, I've been assigning 4-24 points of damage from balrogs that were only middling size! Boy, is my face red.

They would also like $9000 for a 3rd print Brown Box. After describing it as immaculate and astonishing, all of its many flaws are mentioned. At least the seller mentioned them I suppose.

That's funny!

BTW, the brown box was reduced from $9,000 to $7,500:

Still too much.  Wish they would just list it at a low starting price and see where it goes.  They are almost guaranteed get the prevailing market price, maybe more.

Looks like the srong card was used, I just checked my 11-853 pack and it does not have the 15mm label.

These were packed by hand so they must have run out of the regular card and did not notice.

If it is intended for use at the 15mm scale, maybe they're just supposed to be really tall dwarves.

So Jeff, did you mean to type "wrong" or did you mean to type "sarong", because that would be an interesting look for Dwarves.
