Someone snagged this one in a hurry:

** expired/removed eBay auction **

A good price, considering the recent trend for OB3.  The warpage can probably be worked out.

Hope one of our Acaeum members got it.

It's on the high side, for the condition, but there is a "Make Offer" option.

It's probably in VG condition.  I would estimate it to be valued at about $300-350.

Why didn't they make it $14,999.95?

It is $9999.95 if you buy it directly from nobleknight.com, so the unusual price is due to a surcharge to recover ebay fees, it would seem.

This seems high, even for NobleKnight.

I see so many items over the past year being priced with crazy expectations....but occasionally one sells, and sets a standard, so I guess I'm Jon Snow and know nuthin'....

One sold recently in shrink for $249, but the seller is suspect.

Was Chainmail ever shipped to stores in shrink? Or is this shrink something put on by the retailer?

You're probably right. If you're binding things like that (spiral) probably not shrink wrapping. I dunno though.

I would have to guess shipped that way. How many brick & mortar stores have their own shrink machines even now? Any press worth its salt would have one or more.

A shrink machine can be a $15 blow-dryer, though the reason I'm skeptical is because I don't remember seeing Chainmail or the OD&D supps in shrink during the late '70s/early '80s. Maybe they were packaged that way in different regions?

Later prints of Chainmail as well as the OD&D boxed sets were originally shrinkwrapped.  Not to say that this particular copy is original shrinkwrap, but it's quite likely.
