Most hated defect?

Poll: What defect makes you most want to replace (or not buy in the first place) an item?

yup.. all of the problems mentioned above really tick a collector off, especially if they are not known ahead of time ...

BUT If I know an items faults/flaws before hand and need a copy it to fill a collecting vancancy until a better copy can be found, or if I need a copy for reading/research, then the ONLY one I would never buy is the one with MOLD.

Rips, tears, sticker residue, inking, drawings, coloring, highlighting, missing pages, coffee cup stains, pizza stains, beer stains, other unknown stains ( 8O ), cigarette burns, cigarette smells, other smells, seperated pages, missing pages, torn maps, missing maps, missing counters....
ALL of those things can be passed off, and to some extent can be dealt with, if the item is still readable and could be used as reading copies.
Missing stuff has to be replaced or copied of course... but the rest is still useful to some extent.

But Mold?
NO FREAKING WAY DUDES.

In case you had not read me state it...
For me that stuff ends an item every time.
No Saves.

It was a toss uo between stickers (especially Valhalla games stickers) and highlighting, but I went for highlighting.

Step right up. Step right up. I have a fantastic MINT module. In perfect condition ......


(As***pe seller thinks to himself    -  Heh heh ... that'll get em ... it is full of highlighting ... but still in MINT condition)

For me, I despise the aftermarket shrink jobs....  8O

Of course, the other defects are terrible as well and they are what drove me to the safety and comfort of shrink. :)

Actually, with what I believe to be genuine shrinkwrap for 1st Edition and  Basic/Expert modules, there was a nice, overlapping seam on the back and the shrink had an almost crinkly quality.  Re-shrink jobs tend to have seams around the edges, and some of the worst aftermarket shrinking uses a material similar to that of a thin Ziploc bag.

Still the fear of most shrink junkies is whether it is genuine or not. 8O

Best thing about shrink wrap is ripping it all off and seeing what lies beneath the plastic wrap. :lol:

I generally do the same, particularly if the price tag is interesting (old game/book/toy store), and/or if it reminds where I purchased the item.

Mold would be my "most hated", followed by food/drink stains.

lol. Reminds me of some of those weird movies where people get so obsessed with things it leads to their demise.

Visions of a shrinkwrapped RPG collector with a blissful smile leap to to mind ... whoops better not write it down, tomorrow there will be a CSI episode about it ...

Chalk up another one for Other - Mold from me.

It would have to be something I don't own any of for me to even pick up a mold-damaged item.
