I ran into cougarrinard a couple of times. Most of the times he was like any high-strung small-time seller, grouchy and expensive but he always delivered. Last time was with his moneyforoldrope2010 alter-ego. Same problems as described above: outrageous shipping to the Netherlands (29 UKP) and when you contact him he threatens you with a ban. And without any hesitation or comms he started a NPBA against me.

After a while I lost my appetite for discussion and I didn't want my 100% FB to go down the drain, so I just paid.
When I finally received my package, out of the five items ordered three were damaged, incomplete or both. Of course in the adds all items were described as VFC. So I send everything back, including the items that weren't damaged and I immediately started a paypal claim. Of course mr. Big Mouth threatened and whined every step of the way, but because I kept track of every piece of evidence (tracking codes, photographs, emails etc.) I finally, after almost three months, got a full refund. According to the guy at paypal he even yelled at them!

Lessons learned: don't ever deal with cougarrinard or moneyforoldrope2010 but when you do and he screws you over, don't let him threaten you. Stay cool, hand over every bit of evidence to paypal and just let the guy refund everything he owes you. That'll really drive him up the wall.

Funny thing: I've noticed his regular story has changed slightly.
Does anybody know when he added this sentence:

RETURNS: because of recent events, I will only refund cost of goods MINUS Ebay fees. I will not refund shipping or postage, packing or Handling charges.

I'd love to think my dealings with him contributed to this. The more he shows his true face before any transaction is made the better.

I wonder if that sentence is even allowed in a listing and reportable.

I chuckle when I read:
BIDDING ADVICE: don't leave it till the last minute to bid, you will get sniped in the last few seconds, and be left wishing you had bid just a little higher.   Put your high bid in now to avoid disappointment later.  Beat the snipers!!!

Ooooo!  That'll teach those snipers!  Bid early so they can't snipe!

Hahaha:

As if dealing with the Coug isn't gonna end up in a huge disappointment anyway...

New member here...

I had a recent run in with Cougarrinard on eBay (which has now been resolved - I got a refund).

I'd just like to say thanks for this thread (and the one which came before it).  I spent a while trying to work out whether I was just being unreasonable - after all, here was a guy with 25,000 odd sales and 99.9% positive feedback.  How could that happen to a guy who was really pretty abusive and who obviously had, lets be polite here, a pretty liberal definition of very good condition, particularly on items he was charging top dollar for?

Anyway, Googling him (call it a hunch but I felt I wasn't alone) I found this forum and views of him that were more in keeping with what I was experiencing.

So cheers for making me feel better about the fact I wasn't just being a **** myself and that I wasn't as alone as his feedback made out.

Glad this thread could be of help, and thanks for adding to this thread.  You will find these forums helpful in many ways.  Please consider introducing yourself (in the "Introduce Yourself, Fellow Collectors Thread")and browse what else you find here.  You'll be hard pressed to find a more knowledgeable group of D&D collectors. 8)

You know what, I bought something from Cougarrinard recently on eBay.
I gave him 5 stars for everything. The product shipped way quicker than I expected, it was in great shape, and I was very pleased.
Other people may have had issues with him, but I had none.

If you believe that ADVANCED DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS is a game worth playing, you will certainly find it doubly so if you play well.

A lot of people say that about Coug, and have some great buys from him.

Until there is any sort of dispute...then Coug will turn on you like a rabid pit bull.

You can only go to this well so often before you fall in.....

I totally agree. I've done business with him before and although he was never overly friendly or anything he did always deliver.
Until he send me a package with damaged books and boxes (all condition VGC according to cougar  :? ) and I demanded a return. Then things got really ugly all of a sudden.
So deal with him if you want to but make sure you save all correspondence and be prepared for the worst when things go wrong.
He is so verbally aggressive that he will make you doubt yourself and he will want to bully you into submission.
Just ignore everything he says and file a complaint with paypal and let them sort it out.
In my case he got so angry he even threatened the guys from paypal!
I'm ashamed to admit that I never left him negative FB, I was too content with my 100% but now I wished I'd had the balls back then to -FB him all over the place.

Feedback extortion is no longer possible.

He cannot give you negative feedback anymore, so he cannot bully you with that.

I can well believe he's sold a lot of decent stuff to happy people but he doesn't like being questioned and gets very nasty, very quickly when you do.

The odd thing is I swear he believes he's being reasonable and is the wronged party.  Personally I've decided that (even if he hadn't blocked me) I wouldn't go there again.  There's nothing I want badly enough to give him my business or to go through the potential aggravation of having to take it up with him.

I think you're right. I'm no psychologist, but I sense high levels of work-related stress, probably frustrated personal relationships and traces of a personality disorder. Maybe we should all feel kinda sorry for the dude.

Ive known about Cougarrinard for some time, however last night I just couldnt help myself and bid a lot. However, if there are any dispute, like unreasonable large combined packaging, does anyone know what my "eBay rights" are ? What are my options? Can i dispute it or cancel my account? I don't have an account i need protection, Ive only got around 20 FBs (all good), so Its not like its a marvellous account anyway.

SO; if the shipping price is completely ridiculous, what are my options? Because I know this is what he does - he adds £££ to the postage, that will never be paid to royal mail.

Best regards

There's only one available: avoid him.

I decided not to follow this option and that's why i dont write nasty things on him... either you buy from him and not complain or you stay away from him and you freely add your comments to the several threads among D&D collectors communities...

I think Cougie used to make it clear that he did not combine shipping. That is his right, and for some it makes listing large volumes of stuff easier. But you as a buyer also have the right to negotiate.

You as the buyer have an absolute right to refuse to pay for what you buy, all the way up to the point you send money. There is NO OBLIGATION for you to complete a purchase at all. As a seller I have to deal with non-paying buyers all the time. eBay will send you an e-mail threatening to put an unpaid item strike against your name, but that is as far as it goes. eBay CANNOT obligate you to complete any purchase you enter into on their site. This is covered under 'Distance Selling Legislation' in the UK which gives you the right to cancel at any point during the transaction.

A seller also has a right to refuse to sell an item to a buyer, so if I as a seller, did not trust a buyer with few feedback or very low activity on their account, I could refuse to mail out the goods and refund them their payment. I'd risk negetive feedbank, but so be it.

So, bear in mind that a UK seller must send a package to you International Signed For in order to comply with eBay and PayPal's Policies, (This adds about £5) onto the basic international shipping charge, and that the seller must insure that package if the value exceeds £42 (That adds £1 per £100 increment); if you still think the shipping is ecsessive and there is no negotiation or open discussion with your seller, simply do not pay. It's no big deal and eBay won't close your account. They certainly won't take any action against you because you have every right to cancel under UK Law.

Hope this helps.
