Collecting's weird.  You never know.   

He really doesn't have many classics left though and his daughter is wanting to have some remaining with the family. I doubt any more of his great pieces will be sold. I don't think he sold anything amazing since the good box covers some years ago. His new stuff seems to do well on Ebay.

I do love his early stuff. I have "Deadlock", the cover of the Bloodstone lands.

Unfortunately I think his later works are rather "flat" tho.

I have to agree.  A lot of the early D&D art work was kinda cheesy but I love it all the same.  The B&W drawing - I think it's in the DMG? - of a fighter leaping into the arms of a startled magic user to escape the dreaded rust monster is a classic example!

there is confusion, as the painting is actually titled Deadlock, tho it appears on the cover of the Bloodstone Lands.

There is a SEPARATE painting actually titled the Bloodstone Lands, which I think is what you're thinking of?

The painting is actually ever so slightly different, as it was smoke-damaged in a fire, and went back to Elmore to repaint a part of the top of the big fir tree in it.

If I could own just one particular artist's work it would surely be Jim Holloway's work. By far my all-time favorite artist that ever worked for TSR. His mixture of a slightly cartoonier look than, say, a Caldwell or Elmore, along with his knack for capturing a classic D&D scene with a touch of humor has always appealed to me.

Looks like "Scribe" owns most of Holloway's "classics" as far as Jim's paintings are concerned according to the TOT site. I recently got hit up about doing some art commissions for a super nice guy who dabbles in collecting TSR art and once he found out I was a fan of Holloway's he sent me a couple of photos of some paintings he nabbed from Jim a few years back that were never published works but D&D oriented, all the same.
