The scan was from a printer then to PDF so that is why you don't see the bleed. It is a full bleed. I should have made note about that.

I will be putting all the legal stuff in as the final draft appears.

Ash - I like BA1...

All so far - I am iffy on the yellow. I wanted to something a little different but not too crazy. I am gonna try some variations of that color - I think a little softening without going soft...

I think a self-published series already has the designation "BA" for their modules....although I can't see much chance there would be any mixup there.

I actually like "BX", but I think I'm the only one. Since no one else is using it, why not?  "BB" would also be a good designation.

I love the title "Thing in the Valley". It brings to mind classic Lovecraft stories like "The Thing on the Doorstep" and REH stories like "The Thing on the Roof"...."Thing" has a long and honored history in the horror/pulp genre!

I've been lucky enough to read the adventure, and I think it's fantastic.  Very "basic/expert" edition in tone and presentation.  Very good setting, spooky and unnerving.  The yellow cover is nice and makes it stick out.

Also, don't bother going to the website for the PGS, I don't have it ready yet.

Let me know what you think.

I like the cover. Even the bright yellow isnt bad. It stands out. The illustration and font for the title are cool. Reminds me of some horror game Ive played in the past like resident evil or silent hill.

I wasnt too sure about the title at first but after mulling it over Ive started to like The Thing in the Valley as a title.

Very cool.

To be contrarian, I don't really like the yellow.  I think raincoat, rubber duck or mustard.  Just my opinion.

Cool to see you jumping into the Old School publishing ring, I look forward to seeing the finished product.

I am very undetermined regarding the BX thing. I need to settle on something...Always looking for a good idea out there....

Hmmm.  How about XB? ;)

More-seriously, are you planning to straddle this "cross-over" levels range for most of the products, Bill?  If not, then I wouldn't worry too much about it, and just go with B or X or B-X, or perhaps something new like "TR" for transitional or "IN" for intermediate, or something like that.  (I don't actually like any of those suggestions, but hopefully they'll give you or someone else some better ideas).

Truthfully, I like BX better, but again, if you're not planning more of these cross-over level ranges, I'm not sure that the designation helps you much??

And, FWIW, I like the yellow, and the Thing.  I wouldn't mind seeing the yellow mellowed a little, but I like it as-is, too.

What am I looking at?

I like the title.

Yellow is the least attractive color for a module I can think of...even pink would be better.

I think the cover art is good but it gives up a major clue about the storyline...if I am right in my guess about the potrait behind the figure.  Dead giveaways on the cover art was one of my peeves with the old-school modules.

I once wrote the title on the cover of one of my own modules:

Terrible Tower of the Invisble Luking Ancient Huge Red Dragon That Actually Breathes Frost to Surprise the Party

How can something be "old school" and a "pace setter?"  It does not look or sound right.  How about an an old school monster logo and the name changed to something like "Ogre Games?"

"But I have watched the dragons come, fire-eyed, across the world."

But it does remind of you of the old school stuff...

You are partly correct about the illustration but the impact on the adventure is secondary.

Made a couple small changes. Sorry greyscale. Logo is going to a real artist for clean up.

Logo.
I like the swoosh. Dynamic and simple.
The frame and the dropshadow? I don't think work. Looks too much like it's trying to find a reason to alight with the text, and clashes with the main framed image for attention. The G seems a little odd without the S.
Did a sketch as soon as I saw the logo, and I'll PM you what your image brought to mind.

This week I've been mostly eating . . . The white ones with the little red flecks in them.

Great.
The frame and drop are just because I lack the proper software here at work to pull the logo separately. It will only be a P.

Thanks for the bump, ash. Been extremely busy with work and took a mini-vacation to NC last week. Babe Ruth Youth World Series Tournament was just this past weekend in western Michigan so I was gone again.

I will be back at work finishing up the loose ends over the next week or so and I should have it to printer by first week of August and on Lulu by same time.

I have also started layouts for next two modules. Prepubs will go out to a couple proofreaders in about three weeks. Volunteers??? I will post a thread as I get closer but one module is a re-write (cleaning) of a AD&D MDG tournament from 1979 and the other a more straight forward AD&D adventure (murder mystery). Titles are: The Lost Caravan and The Vampire's Curse. I reserve the right to change the second title - I really don't like it too much. Maybe a contest is in order....

By the way, thanks to everyone who has already commented. It is inspiring to get feedback - good and not so good  :D

Hey Double B,

I would be honored to be a proofreader if you still need one.
