Andrea, do you know how many there were in the series?  And what the names of the others were?  Maybe with some digging, we could find them all.

One thing is odd though, my print was from A&C Pictures in Fairfield, ALA.  But Carl's is from Harold J. Norris, Ltd, in Birmingham.  Were the two companies related?

One small tidbit (sorry, I know little about the trucker series, but I'm fascinated to learn about it):  I think there was one in the series called "Fear not, I am with you".  One time, in a coffeehouse in another southern city, I found a frame--just the frame, not the print--with a plaque attached which had that title and the name "Alex Nuckols".  Needless to say, I was amazed to find my old friend's name engraved on a frame, and wished the print had been in the frame!  But the print had been removed.

This has to be one of the more interesting Acaeum strands I have read.

I don't know anything else about Nuckols.  Sometimes, the traits that make a person a good artist also make them difficult to live with.  Good and bad, aye?

This has been an enjoyable journey; and I may have something interesting to add to this thread.

I lived next door to the Nuckols Family in Mountain Brook, AL (1969-1972).  Alex was several years older than myself, and I really knew his younger brother John better.  Alex got me interested in old mining stuff, and he sometimes had old trinkets to share.

When we moved to Texas in 1972, Alex's mother gave my mother a collection of prints made from his drawings of old mine works he scouted in Jefferson County, AL.  The collection is entitled "Jefferson County Coal and Iron Industry Sketches of Historic Sites by the Birmingham Artist, Alex Nuckols".  There are ten prints included in the folder, and it was apparently released "in Celebration of Birmingham's Centennial".  

My mother gave me this set of prints for Christmas last week.  The prints are signed Alex Nuckols '68 and '69, meaning he was a senior, or just out of high school when he drew them.  He was a very talented artist at an early age, and would like to point out that he did more than just truck stop art.

I was extremely happy to have found this thread... and very much wanted to make a contribution.  I've been collecting prints of Alex's work for quite some time.  

I am a filmmaker and was hoping to eventually track Alex down in person because I wanted to know the full story behind these paintings.  I was very sorry to learn of his passing.

I am unsure how many these trucker paintings there are... but I figured I would share the ones I have and perhaps someone can chime with whatever I may be missing.

This was the first one I found.  This frame is a replacement... because it was missing its original.

The obvious similarities extend all the way to the backside that was also stamped with the same Harold J. Norris stamp.  It also had a scripture pamphlet attached to it.
