As I now have three signed "Fishing has no boundaries" hats from Tim, perhaps I could commission a Cerberus-Tim statue?  Just the thing for the front hallway.

By the way, Fishing Has No Boundaries is Tim's favorite charity.  He's auctioned a number of items at GenCon the last couple of years, proceeds to go thence.  (And yes, I have been the sole purchaser to date of all such items.  And just to be clear, the hats were a bonus.  The actual items auctioned were the Jaroo Ashstaff, a Fineous Fingers set of miniatures and a Billidum the Ogre miniature, the latter two magnificently painted.)

At GaryCon 1 I'll be running:
The first D&D Module ever published...
Palace of the Vampire Queen
OD&D characters provided

Each player gets my signed Persiflagous Panegyrical Proclamation attesting to his or her participation in this adventure at this place.

I'm willing to run it twice, up to 12 players @.

I've also been asked to run (my) The Great Bugbear Hunt; we shall see.

F

Got the chance to play in the second running of it in the afternoon session - was a lot of fun! Even better, I was able to win the copy (facimilie copy) afterwards in the 1st ever GaryConI auction! Thanks a bunch, Frank! Everyone had a great time with it!

Also played a few games of Adventurer Card Game by K.R. Bourgoine - that was alot of fun as well. A quick, easy game to learn. If you ever get a chance to play, do so!!

I took a few pictures which I hope to get posted a little later today when I get the time!

Tim's adventure is freakin' awesome.  Played in the session this morning and had a blast.

Rare or not, it is a perfect specimen of OD&D at it's zenith.  All we needed was some Lava Lamps and Rush's Caress of Steel playing in the background, and we would have been partying like it was 1975.

And which character did you play at Tim's table Sunday morning?

I played Helius, high priest of Apollo at the table.

And I got a few of the OCD books signed by Tim Kask and James Ward.  :D

I need to figure out how to attach jpg files to this message thread, then I can put up a couple of picutres of the actual table, and a couple of the con.

Tim, you have a standing permanent invitation to the Acaeum dinner at GenCon.

I'd be certainly interested in buying a copy of the module, if you make them available.

And if you auction a signed copy . . . be warned:  I WILL BID TO WIN.

Kewl! Where are we eating this year?
Seriously; Yes, I will be auctioning the only other two copies of the 5 signed, #'s 3 & 4. Yes, #3 will be auctioned at the Acaeum dinner. #4 will be auctioned in the GenCon auction.

That is my plan; plans can be changed. The proceeds from one will go to Fishing Has No Boundaries. If there are two determined bidders at the dinner, I'll let them both go there and give fhnb their cut.

Also, the very last set of Fineous Fingers figures that I can release (there ain't no more), is being painted by Egg of Coot in a very special manner and will be part of a very special little diorama that will also be auctioned in the big auction on Friday or Saturday night.

Start planning now; 12 players, level 6-9 pre-gen "Blanks" (very basic character outlines with stats but without arms, armor, spells, magic, etc.; players fill all that out to personalize) for members of the dinner crew and Acaeum members. Strictly OD&D: three brown box, 1st three supplements, my imagination.

How you work it out is up to you; draw straws, play flinch, cut cards, use seniority or age or fight spitwad duels.

Time and place to be determined at GenCon as soon as schedule for Frank and me gets known. It can be someone's room, a corner in a hall,  a lobby, whatever. It just has to fit into my auctioning schedule because they do pay for my room (with my bunkie Frank), after all.

I think I'll run another session through the Mad Tower adventure from Gary Con, but this will be 2nd Ed. I found a few glitches in the first ones I printed, so I have to make some changes and clean up a couple of embarassing mistakes and typos.

Oh, one other thing. I would love for it to be an international group, so all you Stateside guys have to allow for fighting it out with some of our foreign brothers.

Any interest?

No problems; the mismatched set of 1st Three and GH, BM , and EW that I use are on loan from Frank. I use them as reference works when I'm writing new adventures. I am certainly the farthest you could hope to find from an "Edition Snob" as there is.
And, if the game goes well, you won't have to crack one the whole time. See my thread at DF; I only referenced the books three times in 8 hours (give or take) of adventuring.

So, you will be auctioning off the GaryCon module? Oh well. No chance for me to get to see it now.

Good luck with the auction. I hope it fetches a mighty price.

As stated earlier, yes; #'s 3 and 4 will be finding new homes at GenCon.

That said, I am aiming for GenCon, or sooner, to have the re-written, re-vised and re-worked adventure done by then as well, which means I will probably be bring copies of that as well to the dinner. I have no problem selling the adventure one night to someone that might be playing in it the next night. Whointhehell wants to adventure in something you already know? That's not simple cheating, that is defying the whole ethos of RPGing.

The guy (diaglo at DF) that got the auctioned copy at GaryCon had it on Sat. night and played in it Sun. morning. I did not know the man previously, but when he said that he'd not looked at it yet he said it with such true regret and longing in his voice that I fully believed him.

If those that get on board to play at GC are of a similar ilk, then I certainly trust them as well. Besides, I will know pretty damn fast if someone is working with prior knowledge and start altering the script on the spot. Old school was all about improvisation and flying by the seat of one's pants.

Absolutely!  Count me in.

I had the privilege at last GenCon of gaming with both Tim and Frank as DMs.  Old school definitely isn't for the faint of heart.

I wish I had been able to make GaryCon, or could make it to the North Texas RPG Con.  Sounds like the first was great, and the second will be fantastic.  I don't know yet about LGGC, if it is on.  Still gotta ask the wife about that one.

I think you are misinterpreting what Serl is saying.  He isn't going to GenCon at all and was lamenting the fact he won't get a chance to see it all.

Duhhh on me if that's the case. Let's see how this all plays out; I might make a mailing before I leave for GC, or something. Some days, my obtuse aspect gains dominance.
