I've still got quite a few of the old computer games. I used to collect them. Not so much any more. One of my favorites, in the Commodore Amiga era was "Pool of Radiance". What a classic that was! Had all of the gold boxes and the others as well. Still have a couple of Intellivisions but haven't messed with them for years. It's getting to the point now where names like "Intellivision", "Commodore", and "Amiga" aren't even recognized any more.

A little tidbit for those that are interested. The Temple of Apshai Trilogy for the PC was a massive 276 KB in size! Amazingly, it does run on XP.

loom and day of the tentacle - great games - i spent many moons on them two for sure!!!!

i remember intellivision many moons back...never got to the D&D game though, think the only one i remember playing on it was the skiing one and that was cool

ps. talking of old video games, two of my ultra faves was Berzerk and gorf (will never beat asteroids, galaxians, phoenix or pacman though)

pps. oh and dragons lair - that was a ton of fun

I have Dragon's Lair, DL2 and Space Ace for my DVD player. You play with the remote.

It all fits together now. You are just a glutton for punishment Al. It all started with Berzerk and Gorf....two early arcade games that "talked to" and actually insulted the people playing them. Then you gravitated to Dragon's Lair.....possibly one of the hardest of the arcade games to master (at least for me it was... :evil:

). And now that you are older, you find yourself running through the Sahara desert once a year to get an inkling of the sufferring that you experienced playing those old arcade games as a kid.

Pretty spot on eh? :wink:

Holy crap, I remember the day I beat Dragon's Lair. I was jacked up worse than Shawn Merriman. And I distinctly remember the next day feeling depressed because I could never play it again, having beaten it.

If you hit a Rowsdower, you get to keep it.

I felt the same way after beating Bubble Bobble on one quarter with no umbrellas.

Ahh... Bubble Bobble... my love.

Such a fun platformer. Rainbow Islands is another classic.

I still play these in my various emulators.

I remember the first time I saw the AD&D game for the Intellivision. I soooooo wanted an Intellivision after seeing it at a friend's house. lol

It was the one with the first-person 3D-type layout, if you ever saw that one. The one with the little man walking through the dungeon in something of an overhead view is the one most people have played, I think. That one was classic too!

I'm not sure which one came first, but I saw the 1st person one first.

Oh, and did anyone own the little LCD handheld AD&D game? I had that and loved it, even though it was terribly basic and didn't have a ton of replay value. lol

It's amazing how stuff like that was AWESOME back then and someone now wouldn't give it a second look because it is so basic.

Now, back in the '80s, at Albertsons, there was this video game called "Black Tiger".

My friend Joel and I loved that game!

And one night, when Joel was sleeping over at my house, we went up to Albertson's, and played BLACK TIGER!

But then this dude comes up to us, and we'd never seen him before... but we think we have!

He makes us feel like we SHOULD know who he is, like he's been the dude sitting next to us in math class, and we just don't recognize him!

Like he was our best friend, that we never knew about!

But we've never seen him before! And he asks to play a the next game.

So we let him, and watch in awe as he plays "Black Tiger" to levels we've never seen!

We didn't want to play "Black Tiger" after that.

I mean, it's like you're trying to solve Rubik's Cube, and then someone comes up and takes it from you and solves it!
