for me, i need a Beholder #1 to finish them, as well as 1 or 2 of the glossary ones i think.

wouldnt mind grabbing some more zines at random and a few other things, but i dont really have any aims or goals.

my one goal really, is to catch up with more of my collecting friends, which will be done once again at Gencon.

i will prb just pick up some things there at random - on ebay...well you never know, anything interesting that comes along i guess.

I haven't been too fussed in finishing off my TSR stuff as I know its always around.. nothing too rare to get (not counting the Planescape sketchbook of course). I think On Hallowed Ground boxed set for Planescape will be the most expensive of the lot... Also I find that most people only offer 1 or 2 items on of the items that I have left to collect and it postage is a killer for me, its hard to justify buying a $1-3 item and then forking out $12 just to send it to me... I depending on what I can come up with I might bite the bullet with Aaron and just get the stuff I need.. I can send you a list of some of want list William if you want;)

In no particular order, here are my general gaming-related goals...:

  • work more on my GH web pages, including my version of Castle Greyhawk and my sources research @ http://www.greyhawkonline.com/grodog/gh_castle.html
  • get my collection of dungeon essays book going in earnest---it's big enough that I don't think I'll necessarily have it printed by year-end, but that may be possible too; for details, see DF @ http://www.dragonsfoot.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=26657
  • get behind the DM screen with my current group, and run either S4 or WG5/Maure Castle
  • game with all of you at LGCC and GenCon (and win more than just a copy of Cohorts there next time!)

...and my collecting goals:

  • Treasure of the Dragon Queen @ http://www.greyhawkonline.com/grodog/gh ... queen.html
  • Australian G1-3/D1-3 to see if there are any textual differences (or have someone else provide the details, of course! :D )
  • snag a woodgrain (probably also need payments, like serleran ;) )
  • snag Cavalier's & Roundheads
  • work in earnest on an Acaeum/ToT subweb on non-D&D TSR...
  • ...which goes hand in hand with starting to finally sell extras/unwanted stuff on eBay

Happy New Year everyone :D

Shipping one relatively inexpensive item at a time to Australia would make it pretty expensive to collect the commons.  Since we have a big package to wrap up to go out to you, you can send those commons you buy from others in the US to me to include in the big box thus saving on the individual shipping to Oz.   :D

Let me think...  I am keen to snag some Imagine magazines, to see how they compare to White Dwarf.  Might also start collecting Dungeons.  I think I have one more box set left to get to complete my Al Qadim collection (I know I stand alone in my love of this particular setting   :) ).  This year I will also start picking up some Judges Guild and other non-TSR stuff.  Hmmm, also looking for a 2nd print box and a 1st print Chainmail

As to actual playing, well, my players are coming to the end of my Call of Cthulhu campaign (we play what may well turn out to be the grand climactic scene tomorrow).  So this new year I am will be doing more actual playing, likely AD&D.  And we will be starting up a play by email Diplomacy game

And in 08 I am going to go to the Lake Geneva Convention  :D

Unfortunately I think I'll be helping other people attain their goals this year, rather than do anything myself. I had a break over Christmas but need to get back into listing stuff on ebay this week.

From your original post though Xaxaxe, I have to say completing my Space Gamer run was one of the most satisfying feelings I've had. The last issue I needed was #1, and had to wait about a year before one came up. I paid a fortune for it, but the seller was Ben Ostrander, who edited the mag way back in the early days.

And I am also a huge Tom Wham fan. I think I have most of his stuff - all the magazine games from the early days, most of the boxed games, some hand drawn snits, and an original game manuscript (for Snits Revenge). Plus I got to visit Tom in 2007 and actually play some games with him, which was another big moment for me.

Regards

Mike

Happy New Year!

Here's my 2008 wish list.

1st prints of G1,D2,D3
5th print or earlier of white box.
Gods Demigods & Heroes, Swords & Spells.
1st print MM,PH.
3rd print B2.

Put stuff up for sale in one auction.
Check out some DCC's, and other new creations.

Finish my story I started writing last year. It would be great if I could hire a real artist to illustrate.

Maybe also pick up some comics. I know little about them, but am interested in learning a bit.

Hopefully, by the end of 2008, I'll have half of my AD&D Partha mini collection meticulously painted....and the miniatures I am missing WAITING to be painted in 2009.

Hey Steven, save up some extra cash, come to Gen Con this year with Al, and play CoC with Badmike, Al, myself, and whoever else is hanging with us.  I've never played CoC and am dying to play.  When I won Beyond the Mountains of Madness last year at the Gen Con auction, the auctioneer asked me if I actually planned on playing it.  I told him that eventually I would get around to it.  Hopefully sooner rather than later.  :)

It currently looks like I will be flying to Indy this year and staying in whatever hotel I can get nearest the convention center.  Since Badmike is driving and bringing his wife along, it looks as if I will be looking for a roommate.  If one or two of you overseas guys are looking at coming and need a place to stay but dont want to pay full price for a hotel room, I will be more than happy to split the cost of a room.

Very nice! Yes, that's a big-time old-school "gaming name."

I fear, though, that you've trumped my "go away, moron" letter from current big-shot author Aaron Allston. Back when I was writing and complaining to the SJG offices, he was just a lowly magazine troll. Ah, good times ...

My goal is to expand my own little modest collection of D&D and AD&D books.  I'd like to gather up some old basic edition stuff, especially modules and gazeteers.

I'd also like to get my hands on a Gamma World Box set, a Dungeon Boardgame and some more Cthulhu stuff.

Don't know when any of this is gonna happen, since the wife insists we spend all our money on friviolous things like diapers, food and mortgage payments instead.

She just can't focus on what's important!

Wow.  Hmmm, I could do both conventions!  8O
And with a bit of extra cash there is even an auction to consider   :D  That would truly be a year to remember!  It would be great to meet up with some of you guys....

You need to add:
1. a white XXXL t-shirt with the message "CHOOSE LIFE" in oversized letters.
2. a 1984 model GE Style-Pro 3000, George Michael's blow-dryer preference during the momentous & unforgettable first American tour.

My list for this year is as follows-

about 11 Forgotten Realms items - nothing rare but I'm cheap!
White Dwarf 20 & 22 to complete my core collection from BITD
Eldritch Wizardry and Swords & Spells - not worried  about print or condition, they'll just fill up my OCE box nicely.
1 R series module - I'm serious about this in 2008 - I want a rare to keep for myself, and I think the R series are the ones.

And that is it - my goal for this year is actually NOT to buy too much stuff - collectors creep has set in a few times and it means that I have waaaaaay to much stuff knocking around that I dont need (or in many cases even want). What I do want to do is sort my stuff out - it's never going to go on display I'm afraid but I do want to invest in some decent boxes, sealable and handy sized. That way I can store stuff away most of the time and have just one box out at a time.

(and I've decided to just throw away those f***ing Dragon magazine duplicates that are just taking up space - one of my overall goals this year is to be more organised and ruthless with stuff in general!!)(Recycle BTW, not just chuck in the bin!)

You can never have too much of something you didn't need in the first place.
