Looks like they are going to perhaps do a "Battlestar Galactica" type re-imagining?

From The Motley Fool investing site:
"Analysts predict golden charge later in 2013
Metals consultancy Thomson Reuters GFMS announced last week that it expects gold prices to soar above $1,800 per ounce by the end of 2013, providing chunky upside from current levels. Specifically, the forecasters reckon that the likelihood of fresh political turmoil in the U.S. could herald fresh safe-haven investment in the yellow metal as the year progresses."

So there's your answer. We need to see turmoil (fresh turmoil, mind you) in the US soon. Any suggestions as to how we might achieve such?

Since Cyprus is talking about selling off its gold reserves prices should drop in the short term.

MSN agrees with you today:

Gold for June delivery plunged $66 to $1,498 an ounce, the largest drop since February 2012. That puts the price of the metal below $1,500 for the first time since July 2011.

One trigger for the slide was a government report Friday that U.S. wholesale prices fell in March by the most in 10 months. Investors tend to buy gold when they expect inflation to increase. Any indication that prices aren't rising will prompt investors to sell gold.

Traders also worry that Cyprus' plan to sell some of its gold holdings will increase supplies on the market.

Gold has been declining this year on strength in the economy and expectations that U.S. interest rates could increase.

Of course, the decline in price could indicate that it's a great time to buy.... :?

Unfortunately the other cash-strapped EU countries are considering a gold sell-off of their own.

Awesome, gold will be so cheap I can finally have that set of solid gold polyhedron dice I've been coveting!

The dollar price of Playing at the World (which is given as 20 g.p. on the back cover) should therefore be reduced as well.

BTW, gold just had it's largest weekly price drop since 1983.  Could be time to buy, but I might wait. As some have said, Cyprus might start selling their reserves off and prices may freefall even more.....

I don't think we have a lot of Boston members, or marathon runners (except for Killjoy) here?   My godson Joey's girlfriend (Dr. Joe's son, for those that have met him at NTRPG Con) is a marathoner and was at the race, and she is ok, but that's the extent of my connection there.  I know a lot of Texas runners attend but my friends who run marathons, none attended this year.

Monday morning I was looking at the Facebook page of a co-worker who wrote that he just missed qualifying for this marathon. Probably for the best. Monday evening I was listening to talk radio & heard the inevitable conspiracy theory, that the bombs were planted by someone who wanted to increase gold prices (see the predictive quote from The Motley Fool above). All-in-all, Monday was a pretty weird day. Still no-one claiming responsibility?

Here's an interesting article about gold: http://www.moneyshow.com/investing/arti ... 207&page=1

Here is a quote from the article that I found particularly interesting:

There's no evidence, they say, that gold has been either an effective currency hedge or a "safe haven." And it's not even a very good hedge against inflation, except in some very extreme circumstances.

To my knowledge, I was the only acaeumer in Boston, but I'm no longer there.

If anyone has questions related to these events (Monday and currently unfolding), I'm happy to shed some light (mostly in regard to locations, proximity of cities/towns, types of neighborhoods, etc).

Areas of interest/knowledge: Harn, WFRP, Ars Magica, anything BRP based such as CoC, Runequest, Pendragon and all their related games

I believe I have discovered the true location of The Caves of Quasqueton from B1. The caves are somewhere here:
