Yes, it does seem that way. I keep thinking back to this post:
Agent Cooper wrote in Random Thoughts or OT Chit-Chat Thread:I'm no conspiracy theorist and I am not into hysterics.  But this covid thing is not just the flu.  The actions of the authorities do not match their words.  The flu happens every year all over the world.  Whole countries dont shut down because of it.  Entire cities and regions are not quarantined for the flu.  The flu doesnt trigger travel bans. Medical staff dont wear full hazmat suits to transfer flu patients.  2 + 2 is not equaling 4 here.

No, it is not adding up. What does? Entertain yourself with these lyrics while you ponder the answer.

"This ain't no party, this ain't no disco,
This ain't no fooling around
This ain't no Mudd Club, or C. B. G. B.,
I ain't got time for that now
Heard about Houston? Heard about Detroit?
Heard about Pittsburgh, P. A.?
You oughta know not to stand by the window
Somebody see you up there
I got some groceries, some peanut butter,
To last a couple of days
But I ain't got no speakers, ain't got no headphones,
Ain't got no records to play"

That is only the beginning... Look at timing in Wuhan and then you ll realize how long it will likely last... From mid november to mid march... That are 4 months...

Fortunately, our social-distancing pods will allow us to remain productive. I hear they're even working on one that can climb stairs!

I told my wife yesterday that when all is said and done the world will be run by old-school RPGers. As I explained to her, we are already self-quarantined by nature, have an average IQ far above the herd, care very little about what happens to non-RPGing life forms, have plenty of weapons, and think roadkill is an upgrade from pizza and Mountain Spew.
She didn't laugh.
Then I told her she should be grateful, there are women out there who would pay in cash and/or deviant sexual favors for the constant barrage of humor I bring to the table. Now I'm in verbal quarantine as well.

Deadlord

I can’t comment on the whole UK, but certainly in my town the majority of people are keeping indoors or at least travelling less and keeping distances, but there are certainly far too many who seem to think this is a free holiday and are now getting out more and more, as I’ve seen some people heading out 4-5 times a day

As a postal worker out and about anyway, I’m surprised how much I’m seeing of people ignoring the advice
Even our managers don’t get the severity of the virus, as they seem to think it’ll be ok if one of us gets it. But they don’t get that if I get it, I’ll probably be ok, ill for a week or so and back to work. But they don’t realise that I could pass it to someone, who passes it to someone, who gets it and dies.

That’s the simple facts. I saw a good graphic on social distancing yesterday, about how far 2m is. Having been at a food store in the afternoon a guy walked up and stood right next to me. I looked at him and told him to piss off back to the lines the store have put down to keep distances.

So the graphic? Imagine the outline of a dead relative between you and the next person. That’s 2m and the distance you need to keep.

Life Imitates Stephen King's The Stand, Thursday Edition

This clip has been circulating, showing a reporter in or near Wyoming: NBC Montana Reporter Deion Broxton Breaks Bad During Live Shot “Oh My God” “Im Not Messing With You” - YouTube

It resembles a scene from The Stand set in Wyoming, beginning at 2:45 here: The Stand "The Plague" Part 8 - YouTube

Coincidence, or an intentional tribute?

I worked in the trade show industry for the last 14 years. Up until now, I thought I was in a recession-proof job.

I was laid off a week and a half ago. I used some vacation time, but today was the first time ever I filed for unemployment.

The week I spent on vacation I've been selling quite a bit on the Facebook RPG Auctions page, and doing quite well. But still, all the trade shows have canceled up to the end of May. So no work for the next three months for me...

Buy my stuff guys!

RPG’s, D&D in particular has had a major influence in my life. It’s bonded me together with life long friends...it’s that bond in life not just as friends, but in our jokes, our mannerisms, and what we find funny. Invincible Overlord

I work as a Union electrician, and was just laid off Monday. The company I worked for help set up shows at the Indiana Convention Centers and Lucas Oil Stadium. I hope to get back to work in a couple months but who knows for sure.

I will be updating my Acauem classified listings later today. All prices have been reduced by at least 10%.

I truly feel sorry for anyone here who was furloughed/laid off.

Fortunately, as a small engine repair mechanic, my job was labeled "essential."

But, with a lot of people being out of work, who knows how long the spring rush will last.

Dave, get the barbarian in the corner a drink, quick!

Wow, sorry to hear that you guys were laid off.  Hopefully it's just temporary and they will hire you back shortly.

Well, that’s me out of work for the foreseeable future. I reckon this is going to run through to September and after that everyone will be walking on egg shells, not knowing if they’ve had it or if they’ve still to get it. Like most people I’m more concerned about where my income is going to come from and minimising my outgoings.

When all is said and done though, it’s not like no-one saw this coming in January. I can any assume the people panic buying toilet roll and hand wash were either the people who didn’t keep toilet roll and soap in their house normally, or people who’d had their heads buried in the sand and then panicked when they realised the real world still existed outside of their sandbox.

Not overly worried about getting ill. More concerned about educating, socialising and feeding a 4yo.

With all this spare time though, I may dig out an old laptop and scanner, see if they still play nice together, and return to PDFing the non-TSR world. I picked up the last of the modules from Le Dernier Cercle, so maybe I’ll translate them into English if this thing drags on and I can convince my government to pay me a stipend.

Seriously though... Take care of yourselves.

This week I've been mostly eating . . . The white ones with the little red flecks in them.

All the trade shows in Chicago have been canceled through May.

So if we're lucky... things start back up (slowly) in June. If this 2 trillion stimulus package goes through as everyone hopes it does, it will supplement my unemployment to a degree of reasonable safety. Until then, it's back to the Facebook RPG Auctions page and sell some more...
