Lol, yes, you'll have to pick up the pace a bit to get to the venerable old fart collector.

Not sure about venerable but feeling like I've already attained old fart status.   :?

Sir Kill Alot wrote in Interesting Items just ended on eBay:That is the highest I have seen for a non SW DM screen.  Might be the highest for ANY DM screen.  It wasn’t an auction so quite possibly someone finishing a milestone and bit the bullet.  If I was down to the end of my collecting run, I could very easily see myself doing the same (it would have to be something a little more rarer than a DM screen however…  :D ).

I think the DM screens are the most mispriced vs long term demand in the collectors space for our stuff.

Hence why I have been trying to get a hold of the Judges Guild ones & the first D&D ones I can find. Think they are pretty reasonable to own and very "usable". Cool way to play the game (whatever version you play) with a nod to the past.

Kind of feel like thats why Dice are crazy expensive also. People can use them and show off the heritage of the game. Whereas modules are harder to show-off.

I have been slowly getting the different prints/versions of the DM screens as well.  They are items difficult to find in really nice shape.  They do get beat on, stained, crushed, improperly folded, etc. due to their usage.

Edit:  this one has been through hell and back again...

Oddly, I think a couple of these have sold around this over the last couple of years. Some have sold quickly for less and I could be wrong though.

This is what I have tracked over the last few years... Basically only cream of the crop and SW items.  It is by no means complete and includes both auctions and BIN sales...

Dayum. Its cool that you track this. Do you get a report from ebay or just track it? I started tracking some things and saving pics at one point. That didnt last long.

U1-3 got that 5e remake. I think it brought the modules some attention.

With 495 items in my eBay watchlist, some would say, I have a problem...  :shaking:  I also monitor the FB groups too.
At first it was difficult to stay on top of it but you get into a rhythm and it gets easier.  I use Excel to keep track of everything which helps if I'm bidding on something I have been watching. i  know how many have sold in a particular condition, for how much and can project a little bit on how long it will take another one to pop up (based on the last four years I've been doing it).  Its not exact, but it gives me some sort of ballpark to play in.

Edit:  1,000 post.   I like the Prolific Collector title more than Verbose Collector.  Makes me sound like a blowhard…which come to think about it, is pretty accurate… ugh.

Congrats sir!

Only Al (Killjoy) is ahead of me and he never posts anymore, shows you how prolific he was when he was a regular. BTW I talk to him still and he's going to try to get to NTX for the con in 2025, his last one was our 2nd year (2010). Those that remember him know he was a hoot, hope to see him again. And hope he doesn't come back and post anymore it's going to be hard enough to beat his number....

It was up for auction starting at $999 and didnt sell. I understand it has pen writing. I guess there arent too many people looking to spend that kind of money every week? But with only 1000 printed, and god knows how many went to a landfill, this might be the lowest price it sells for again - save for random folks just listing BIN without knowing what they are listing.

How many first prints have been on ebay in the last five years?

mike

like i mentioned. short of a catastrophe, i am defo coming over. just basically want to see any of the gang who are going to be there...would be pretty damn cool to trade tales once more. anyone else thinking of going?

see if you can dig martin (prufrock) out of the woodwork. i will think something up for the select few if i have time or the inclination. more just want to catch up.

hope everyone is well and taking good care of themselves.

oh i got hold of 2 dragon lords fanzines. never had them before. actually quite a good read. should have gotten more of them many years ago.

Best, Al
