I did exactly what Gnat did when putting in my max bid (which wasn't much higher than what the auction ended at). I added up all of the ending bids or "buy it now" of the modules/geomorphs that were active/finished on ebay at the time (and that I could find), and came up with a value of over $600 if I were to purchase all individually (including shipping charges).



Now that's not to say the estimates I used were fool proof, who knows they could be going for much less 6 months from now, but it was the best I could do to put a value on if I was getting what I thought was a good deal or not. It also helped in the fact that I needed all of these for my collection (I sold off a bunch in the late 90s/early 2000s and am just now getting back into collecting).



I have to say I am very pleased with the purchase. I knew none were first print but the books are in absolutely amazing condition, not a bent corner/page, no rusted staples or worn cover/spine, nothing...except maybe the missing shrink wrap.



I live in IL so I was actually able to go to the physical ebay store (NETSELLSIT) that listed the items to pick them up (no shipping charges too). The owner of the store said the customer who brought them in to sell is a regular and seems to buy all this stuff, open it, but then never use it. These were sitting in his attic for years. (probably since the day he bought and opened them!)



Anyway, just wanted to share as I just came across the posts from a week ago about the auction i won...I'm sure some may think i over paid, I won't deny that it's more money than I thought I'd ever pay, but if I think about buying the 19 books individually (which I probably would have done eventually) I feel like I got a good deal. I suppose if a sucker thinks like he's getting a deal, it's still a deal and he wont know any better  No, seriously I'm happy w/ purchase and addition to my collection.

Thanks, yeah I was agreeing with the assessment you gave and basically did same thing when coming up with what I thought value of entire lot was.

Thanks for the welcome... been visitor to site for many years, just never joined forum until now. Looking forward to building my collection back up...at least after I save some money that I can dedicated to it!

It is also in the classifieds section being sold by an Acaeum member.  If you do a search for: Kuntz Hackmaster City of Brass you can probably find the details on what happened and put the manuscript in context.
