There is no one nation or group of terrorists.
Terrorism is something that the arms industry wants to hang a marketing campaign on. It has become the new cold war.

Yes! What a great way to wake up today.

This is about justice. Nothing else. I hope we got more intel from that piece of shit. There is still plenty of garbage to clean up.

There was no option of bringing him back alive for a show trial.
If you noticed in the carefully worded statement by Obama.

"After a firefight they killed Osama Bin Laden and took custody of his body."

The word "After" is key. If he was still breathing at that point, they capped the bastard and dragged his worthless ass to the extraction point.

I was talking about Al Quaida terrorism.  I think it's possible to defeat Al Quaida.  I agree that terrorism will likely always be with us.

You do not want to leave a physical site where his adoring worshipers can rally around.
If there were any doubts about the identity the military would have hung on to the body until they had positive ID.
It is nice that he was killed with the personal touch of a bullet instead of a missile.

Time to bring the troops home. A continuing presence will not change the way that people think and act in that region. It just requires some observation and the occasional Tomahawk to keep things in order.

I have to agree with Jason. Throwing him overboard (hopefully after taking a few pictures and stowing a vial of his blood) prevents any of his lunatic followers from having a spot to plant a memorial or blow up a bomb. Good riddance.  Proof of his death will be the absence of any "proof of life" videos from here on out.  Face it, if he's still alive and doesn't have a press conference at some time soon, he's lost way too much face to ever be effective. Now let's get on to more important things.  Let's get the hell out of Afghanistan and let Predator Drones and SEAL squads deal with the leaders of Al Queda, Taliban, etc.

And I just heard from the Republican Party that they're not going to run anyone against Obama for 2012...    :o

Obama's "bounce" won't last that long. Hell, Bush #1 won a freaking war and polled the highest approval rating in presidential history, and he was out on his ass to a hick governor from Arkansas in less than two years.  We are a "What have you done for me lately" nation, and "Why is does my gas cost so much?" nation, and a "Why is my grocery bill so high and I can't find a job?" nation.  Now if Obama had waited a year to cap the MF'er....different story...

BTW, a part of the story that's getting lost, there is NO FREAKING CHANCE we ever close Gitmo now.  It's said the intelligence to make this happened was gained by questioning prisoners at Gitmo (heaven forbid they waterboarded someone?).  So much for that Obama campaign promise.....he's not only kept all the Bush protocols for rendition, tapping phones and military tribunals, he's built on them.

No, it was a solid and wise decision.

The conspiracy people wouldn't have been satisfied with his body on ice, displayed as a popsicle on the White House lawn.  Neither would his followers.

Obama gets high marks from me for manipulating the story.  Bomb Ghadafi's family home on Friday.  Attack Bin Laden on Sunday night.  Nice work!

The president gets one week of fun, then the story gets more complictated.

Obama's core supporters are notoriously emotional.  (Just look at the emotions expressed here.  Multiply by three and add stupid and you get an idea of Obama's new problem.)  They will expect an immediate withdrawl from Afghanistan.  They are likely to tantrum when it doesn't happen, just like they did in our last election.

Already this morning, administration people have been out trying to re-direct the storyline to more realistic expectations.  There is still the potential for this to damage Obama as much as it helps him.

America tends to re-elect presidents no matter what.

Wow, right on the money. You should see the FB postings of my lefty friends.  They are calling for bringing home the troops, IMMEDIATELY, and expressing reservations that this will mean an expansion of the Bush protocols.  As well as the realization that Gitmo won't close, etc.  But he did the right thing, I just don't know how many from his own party will give him credit once the dust has settled.  How's that Nobel Peace Prize looking now???

A funny story, one of my best friend's growing up had a military father who served in Vietnam during the 60s/70s.  One of the points Nixon ran on in the 1968 election was ending the Vietnam war and bringing home the troops. So, the day after the election, my friend's mom was greeted by several of her friends with the line "Isn't this great?  Ted's coming home!  The war is over!" Luckily my friend's dad got sent home before Nixon EXPANDED the war into Cambodia in 1970......anyway, point is, people are often unrealistic in their expectations.  Anyone out there thinking the death of OBL is the end of terrorism is in for a sad surprise.

I do not think anyone on the GOP side, interested in the job, can beat Obama in 2012.  Now if Daniels or Bloomberg could get a shot then we have a very interesting campaign.  But both Daniels and Bloomberg are no where near hardline enough for the base.

The euphoria expressed by some Democrats is similar to the emotions demonstrated when Obama won in 2008.

For a moment, they seriously believed that history was over.

The downside to euphoria is that it is an emotional high that comes with a corresponding letdown.

You should take note that the administration's own behavior has been decidedly un-euphoric.  They know what's coming.

What body? In other news, I dissected an extraterrestrial corpse the other day; threw it out in the trash, it's gone now so you'll just have to trust me. You do trust me, right?

Ever wonder WHY after 2 years only a VERY small percentage of the stimulus money has been spent?

Everyone knows that Obama gave Osama most of the stimulus money to disappear from the face of the earth forever; or at least until Obama's 8 years in the white house are over...
After that Obama won't care, as he will have destroyed the USA from within by making it the biggest debtor nation the world has ever seen.
He will have taken our rights away too.
Like free speech, and the right to own personal firearms... the list goes on.

At which point Osama can "come back to life" and use all that American Tax money to BUY what's left and become the First Religious leader of the NEW United States of Islam.
Don't forget to say your prayers five times a day while facing Mecca folks.

I was glad to hear Obama say that he hopes we can take the pride the nation feels and turn it into solving problems together at home.  The debt our nation has built up is more serious than terrorism IMO.  Let's see, I can see this happening.....ummmm.......O.K. I can't see this happening.   Partisanship is only days away, if that, and it's back to arguing and criticizing as usual.   :?
