Today's date is the same forward and reverse:  02/02/2020.  10 years ago was the last time (01/02/2010).  

My 8 year old wants to play D&D, so I gave him a character sheet so we can do 2E. He had 4 dice to roll for stats, dropping the lowest. He wanted to be a fighter/cleric. His rolls: 17, 17, 16, 16, 15, 15, 11 ( I use Luck as a stat). Unreal. I gave him my usual 1 for 1 rule ( my groups are usually small, so they need the stats) and he ended up with:

Str 18/97 (yep, he rolled a 97)
Int 11
Wis 18
Con 18
Dex 18
Cha 12
Luck 12

Talk about kickass rolling! I made him roll in a huge box so I could grab the dice really quick and tell him what he rolled in case it was horrendous, but I didn't need to....... He wanted to be a cleric of Thor, so he uses a hammer. I fudged the hammer a bit and called it a "war hammer" that does 2-5/1-4 one-handed, and 2-8/1-8 2 handed. I'll look for a similar weapon but that'll work.
Anyways, like it was with my older son, this is the shit you live for: seeing your kids get as excited as you di over D&D.

Wish I could roll stats like that. I usually get the Charlie Brown Treatment. Although, once I did roll the max strength for a dwarf fighter on the level, 18/99.

He died pretty quick. Yep, that darn CBT at it again. Rats!  

I would have just gone the next die up for the hammer. 1d6+1 and 1d6.
