There's some additional discussion about this over on GHO @ Official Setting for "Ghosts of Saltmarsh" -- Greyhawk Online and in various Greyhawk forums.

I haven't looked at 5e much at all, Axel:  I did pick up the Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes book because I was a victim of marketing, but I'm managed to resist other stuff since ;)

Allan.

Might be more interesting if they did not require a subscription. Dirty fascist pig-dogs! I fart in their direction! Their fathers smell of elderberries!

Hawaii hiker says she followed a 'voice' down an unfamiliar trail. Then she got lost. - CNN

What would you recommend if you found yourself in this situation? If we're talking about a 1e will-o-(the)-wisp, the only spells that would work on it are protection from evil, magic missile, or maze. Should you try to find & attack its lair? There's a 90% chance that its nearby. Would there be supplies in its lair that would be usable to a humanoid?

Last week I was watching a movie, saw about half of it and ended up getting interrupted. Didn't get a chance to finish it until last night.
For about four days between those times, I kept thinking about it from a gaming/storytelling angle. It had a real interesting take on the relationship between fairly normal people and some type of "higher power". Kept thinking this would be interesting for a DM to think about in their game.
Now the funny thing, when I finally got back to it and watched the whole thing. It turned out very different than what I imagined - but that's good for a supernatural thriller. Also found out it was a sequel (never saw the first movie) but it didn't really matter, the story was pretty well self contained.

Has anyone else here seen "The Endless" from 2017?

I own it but haven't had the chance to watch it yet.  Wasn't this released in 2018 though?

I'd comment on this, but I'm too busy looking for people flying the Betsy Ross flag so that I can yell at them for being racist.

From the media-

'Trump claimed in an Independence Day address that the US army 'took airports' in the War of Independence in the 1770s: "Our Army manned the air, it rammed the ramparts, it took over airports, it did everything it had to do, and at Fort McHenry under the rocket's red glare had nothing but victory."'

There's only one world where this concept makes sense, & that's ours. How would a force of 18th-Century irregulars fare against a modern airport? I am not aware of any yet-published wargame to address the issue, so it's probably best to treat it as a mashup. Does anyone have experience with this Avalon Hill game?

Does it look like it's counters & basic rules could be compatible enough to be played on the board of the game below?

To be fair that was a smart move by Washington ... otherwise King George III would have been able to reinforce our Redcoats by flying in reinforcements across the Atlantic.  ;)
