234 seems like a  bargain considering one in similar condition went for 650 recently

This auction caught my eye for some sort of Learning D&D handout, but it's not well-pictured. Anyone else recognize it?

Allan.

I noticed this too, but whatever that is, it looks like a definte photocopy to me.

With respect to what it may be or what it came from, I wasn't able to locate anything, although admittedly I did not look very hard.

I came up with naught as well. Absolutely a photocopy. I did find out there is a Learning magazine. Dunno if it is the same one as back then. Wasn't able to confirm.

Yeah, I had some interest also in it. Can't say it didn't go for a fair price if the inside was as nice as the outside. I forgot to message the seller to find out if it had any writing or marks inside, so I laid off of it - did you find out if it was clean on the inside SimperingToad? Not that it matters at this point, I guess.

Nope. Never got any info.

Not that I asked.  :D

Is it acceptable to list items here that are up for auction but that are not on ebay?

JCP, what ever happened with these large parts of a collection being made available for sale online?

jcp wrote in Collection of original work from TSR artist:I am excited to announce that the entire collection under discussion here has been sold.

I continue to work with the artist's family and will also be assisting the purchaser. Large parts of the collection will be made available for sale online soon.

More details will be posted.

The entire collection ended up being purchased by Noble Knight. Apologies for not providing my follow up here.

Not auction on ebay, but on FaceBook...

For those looking for early printings of the original D&D supplements, I have a complete set of them plus a few other obscure 3rd party D&D items available in the RPG auction group on FaceBook. Bidding started at $5 each with no reserve and they end tonight (Tuesday) at 11pm EST. Up for auction currently:

-Swords & Spells, 1976 verified 1st print
-Greyhawk, 1975 verified 2nd print
-Blackmoor, 1975 verified 1st print
-Eldritch Wizardry, 1976 verified 1st print
-Gods, Demi-Gods and Heroes, 1976 verified 1st print SOLD
-The Book of Demons by Phil Edgren SOLD
-Asphodel Inn by Adversary Games 1981 SOLD

Later today hopefully I will be listing a D&D white box 4th printing with no reserve and a $5 opening bid.

Here is a link to the group. Let me know if you need a link to any of the listings specifically.

Just listed today...

D&D white box 4th printing in the FaceBook RPG Auction group. Starting bid is $5, no reserve and no buy out. It will sell for what it sells for. It's a verified 4th printing, non-OCE with matching books inside. Condition is good on the box and excellent on the rules themselves. The set was owned and is attributed to Carl Smith, the author and publisher of the very rare Asphodel Inn module.

I'm seriously Lol - ing on the added description on this one. Ie "Dear Buyers of TSR, Gary Gygax Dungeons and Dragons" ;) Seems honest though which is commendable. I do have to wonder if a call was made to the son about coming over and picking up his crap and he told them to "throw it away or sell it on eBay - I don't care what you do with it"

Nice to see they upgraded shipping and it's now freeeeee! I was seriously cracking up when I read it originally and they had the statement about combined shipping to save the buyer money.

Are the dice original 1970s TSR? They basically look right, but are the sharpest-edged examples I've ever seen, and the D12 has a more marbled texture than mine (admittedly I have only a couple of sets to compare to the photos in the auction).

The minis are interesting for their lack of detail. (Heavy wear, or primitive sculpting?) Anyone know what they are?

The minis look like Minifigs to me, which are noted for their simple/crude sculpting. They also don't hold up well over time because of the soft material used in casting, so if you stored them by tossing them in a cigar box, they lose detail as well as small, fragile parts.

Having said that, there are some Minifigs that I really like, such as the pig-faced orcs and hobgoblins from the D&D line. They look like the pics from the MM came to life! And some lines, including Valley of the Four Winds, Aureola Rococo, and World of Greyhawk hold value among collectors.

This ends tonight on the Facebook RPG auction group. First ever white box printing of the D&D rules (the 4th printing overall after the brown box editions), complete. No reserve, it will sell for whatever the final bid is!
