I'd be the first to state that defensive players don't get enough credit most of the time when a team plays well, but Matthews didnt deserve the MVP.The award is given for the best player on the winning team which Rogers clearly was. You go back and look at some of the MVP's of past Super Bowls and check out their numbers and tell me again how Rogers doesnt deserve the MVP. Especially when Joe Montana, one of the greatest QB's to ever play the game, only made 14 of 22 passes for 157 yards when he won the MVP for Super Bowl XVI. And Steve Young, the MVP for Super Bowl XXIX completed 24 of 36 passes for 325 yards and six touchdowns. Which means he threw 12 incompletions. Rogers was 24 of 39. That is 15 incompletions (a whopping three more than Young). Steve Young had sure handed Jerry Rice, who most consider to be the best receiver ever to play the game. Rogers had Jordy, who dropped five passes. If Rogers had Jerry Rice he would have thrown for over 400 yards and five touchdowns.Do you expect a QB to throw for 400 yards and five touchdowns a game to be considered great? If that is the case, your golden boy Peyton Manning who was the MVP for Super Bowl XLI, only completed 25 of his 38 passes for 247 yards. Maybe they should take away his MVP trophy cause he didnt deserve it?
