I was the one bidding on R2. I didn't bid on R1 because the starting price was too high, and I didn't on R3 because, theoretically, I would already own that one, I would just be waiting for the package to arrive from an Acaeum member. I say theoretically because a very long time has passed and that Acaeum member is not responding to my contact attempts.

Anyway, I'd really expect to be sniped even on that single R2 (I placed the bid 40 minutes before auction end). Seeing the item sold at the starting price was really surprising.

WTF?

I actually looked into getting this done for some stuff once, but it's prohibitively expensive. In the old days, this is how many books were made - you'd buy them in installments as magazines, & then take your completed run down to the local bookbinder. Our modern-day hobby of collecting "complete sets" has it's origins in what was once standard practice for book owners.

me too - somehow reassuring that someone would do this. Perhaps it's so the books could be 'hidden in plain sight' on the family bookshelf!

You can never have too much of something you didn't need in the first place.

Very odd.  Only the R-2 sold, with one bid.  No bids on the R-1 or R-3.  While the starting bids weren't "bargains," they weren't all that unreasonable, either.  Does everyone have the R series already?

Sorry, I'd love to have them, but too rich for my blood! I'd like to keep on the good side of my wife!

WOW! There's a second mortgage in someone's future. Or, it would be in my case anyway.

And it's the velcro edition (a very brief experiment by the TSR Packaging wizards).
