How am I going to survive today? I mentioned on Tuesday it was 38C (100.4F). Well yesterday it was 43C (109.4). The forecast is that it will hit 43 today and again tomorrow and the day after that with the possibility of a cool change on Sun pm. Last night we all slept in the basement to stay cool. We don't have aircon, because days like this are quite rare , but 4-5 days in a row.... arrrgggh. To quote the wicked witch of the west "I'm melting......I'm melting....."

We occasionally get the odd day over forty, but having four days in a row is exceptionally rare. This is the hottest string of days in Melbourne since 1908. Today was 43.2 or 111F.

I hate hot weather. If it is cold, it is easy to warm up. But when it is this hot it is very hard to cool down.

Shoulda been born in Texas I guess!

Ok, I don't remember it every reaching 111 degreess, that's just sick.  But we have had strings of 30+ days over 100.  1981 was an insane year, I think almost every day from June-August was over 100 degrees, including the entire month of July.  Followed that up with a year in the 90's (1995?) when it didn't record any precipitation for the entire month of July.  If you don't like it hot here in the summer you learn to leave at a pretty early age...

Now that is classic....

The funny thing is, those stupid signs are useless..half the time they don't give any useful information, just quips like "Drive Safely" and "Don't drink and Drive".  They rarely help you out of actual traffic difficulties.  I'd love to see a few with "zombie" warnings around here just to break up the monotony.

And I'll take a zombie over a shrew any day...
