It's been a few years since I sold off my own collection (back when there were only about 6 expansions) for well over two thousand, so my knowledge isn't current, but I suspect this might not be too far off the mark. Complete sets of each of the early expansions seem to still be going in the $300 - $400 range, so if there are twenty or so expansions at this point, I would estimate conservatively:

Harbinger + first four expansions @ $300 apiece = $1,500
expansions 6 - 10 @ $200 apiece = $1000
expansions 11- 15 @ $200 apiece = $1000
expansions 16 - 20 @ $150 apiece = $750
for a total of $4,250

I didn't notice any of the colossal dragons in that set.  ::shrug::

Thanks for the info.  It just seemed like an expensive auction and I never realized there were so many minis and expansion sets available.  Hopefully, the new owner gets a complete set as he hoped.  How did these come packaged?  For me the compete set would be the box or clamshell as well, preferably unopened but when I see them on ebay they mostly seem to be loose with or without card.  8O

Hello Mrs. Cleaver, Theodore.

Hey everyone,

Was just shocked to see how much the guy wanted for this one...

Chainmail, Rules for Medieval Miniatures, Guidon Games Gygax TSR D&D

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Chainmail-Rules ... 0666715673

Not like it's in mint condition either.

Best regards,

Ronald

Those are very rare.

In fact that is the 1st copy I have seen on e-Bay in several years and it is unlikely you will see another one for a long time (unless someone needs the funds for something else).

I would rather it was less stained and the rusted staples were ... well... not rusted.

The Stamped name/address/phone number on both covers really sucks too.

The BIN amount Might be a bit ambitious considering the condition; but Even so, as rare as those are, I truly think this is not the place to post it.

Agreed.  I don't think that price is unreasonable at all.  These come once in a few years.

Looks like an aftermarket shrink job to me anyway.  :(

Zen

Edit: Looks like he has a whole bunch of "shrink" items up for sale. Go take a gander.

Maybe, but I'm not so sure. I'm not expert on how it should look, or if the B2 is blatantly aftermarket. Some of the other shrinkwrap looks better to me, though, and a few of the TSR items look minty but are not in shrink. If he were reshrinking modules, you'd think he would do all of the ones that he could get away with. I guess someone else might have done it before he acquired them.

Can't tell for some, but a couple have obvious scuffs from use and are 'in shrink'.

Note that he never claims any of it is Original Shrinkwrap.

Not explicitly, but the word "new" implies it.

EDIT: Pardon me, most of the items are described as "like new in shrinkwrap". Whole different thing.

The large hex sheet is neat. $90 is reasonable for those?

Been trying to identify some old hex sheets/pads I've had sitting around including some of those heavy cardstock hex sheets from the 70's.

Only a buyer of that item can truly answer that question.

And though I agree it seems a viable collectable being so rare (not to mention the historical value) at that price, I wont be buying one of them.

After the seller left the ad in the Classified section, I dropped him a PM and suggested that his prices might be a little unrealistic. He responded saying he was open to offers, so I also asked him about the shrinkwrap, but haven't heard back yet.

Was there ever a Holmes B2?

B1 In Search of the Unknown was in my Holmes basic set.

Did some of the later sets come with B2?  I always thought that B2 came with the red box.

Hey FormCritic,

There sure was. When I bought my Holmes boxed set back in the early 80's it had a B2 in it. Also had chits and no dice too.

Best regards,
Ronald

Yeah, some came in the 6th and 7th prints of the Holmes box. Although since these weren't shrinkwrapped, if this s/w is real it couldn't have been one of the modules so included, and is thus a "Holmes Era" B2 :). It's a 1st printing (has the "also can be used with AD&D" language in the cover blurb).
