She got nasty and said fine I'll just cancel it and reminded me that she knows what she is doing and doesn't need advice. Not sure why sellers think it's always the PO's fault when a book is damaged due to shitty packaging.

I only even checked because I saw someone else mention their feedback was removed so I got curious.

Side question, I know eBay obfuscates buyer's user ID's with the whole r***y type stuff but do they also change the star rating? I'm looking at my feedback, which says "removed by eBay" and the star number is definitely not me, lol but the item# matches the one in my purchase history so I know it has to be my feedback.

I can answer your first question - when you returned the book and received your money back, to eBay, the seller has completely fulfilled their obligation to you. Even if the seller didn't pay for return shipping that would still be true.

As far as messages go - if she threatened you, eBay may choose to punish her account monetarily or even suspend it. But it still would not matter as far as Feedback is concerned. Being snotty is nothing to eBay as far as their determination of whether a seller has acted properly or not.

I hope you don't mind if I offer you some friendly advice. No matter how crappy of a job one of their sellers does. Whether it's their descriptions, pictures, packaging, whatever. It's the same as if you had a bad experience at McDonalds. It's their business, not yours. you have zero say in how that person runs their business if they don't want your advice - you only get to choose to be or not be a customer. Obviously, there are exceptions to that. If McDonalds poisoned your kids and put them in the hospital, you would have some type of recourse. But you can't force them to wrap their Big Macs in different packaging, or whatever other example you could think of.
I feel you, I've packaged things in a Professional capacity and almost want to cry at some of the things I've purchased that have arrived broken when I could have packaged them ten different ways that would have worked. I even went overboard on something amazingly rare one time, told the seller I'd pay extra for shipping if they would follow my packing instructions. They took my money and followed none of it, the piece arrived broken and the only recourse I was allowed by eBay was to return it for a refund, and I had to pay for the return shipping for added insult, AAAND that was when sellers could leave negatives to buyers and I got one.

Speaking of Books, thanks for bringing it up brute. Just about to finish Bulfinch's Mythology myself and gearing up to finally read Elric's Saga I & II, a friend of mine scored them for me last week - pretty excited!

Last week, my wife bought me a copy of Dungeons & Dragons: Art and Arcana. Initially, I expected it to be simply a fun addition to my coffee table, but I couldn't put it down after opening it! Rather than being simply an art book, the art perfectly enhances an in-depth historical record of D&D. I loved it so much that I purchased the special edition, just so I can have a display copy to go along with my reading copy. Kudos to the authors!

Not sure if anyone caught this already, but here is a recent take on the Palace of the Silver Princess saga. A short write up in Wired Magazine from June of this year. Kind of interesting. They've tracked down some ex tsr folks and some of their stories are a bit different from some of those told on the summary here on the Acaeum. Which just adds to the mystery of the legend, I suppose.
