This item is both for the conditions/ printing and the history wriiten in the auction description one of the most charming sets in the last years to my eyes...

It might  even break the last highest value !

Pretty nice first print, best one on Ebay in many years!!

Hi folks,

It was suggested that I join and start a discussion thread about the original D&D set that I recently posted on eBay. I started the thread in the Collecting General area, giving a little more detail about the set and how I came to own it. I know there was some question about the fact that I did not have any history on eBay and concerns that this might be a scam of some kind. Please feel free to check out my post on the Collecting General thread and add any comments or concerns. I will do my best to answer any questions. Thanks for your interest!

Jan

I think my bid lasted for about an hour. LOL

I knew it wouldn't but it was still fun to throw out there for a bit. It is already as high as I thought I might finish up. Obviously, I was very wrong on that call.  :P

I always try to bid what I can afford (if it isn't too laughably low), so at least I can say I was part of the party and you never know when fate might throw you a bone.

The guy has either the same one or another one up for sale!

Well I hope you'll forgive me for saying this Mr. Spock, but I am not displeased that you were unable to get a bid on.
I own the 1980 AD&D Open Master Copy from GenCon (that all of the Judges Copies were photocopied from) and I thought this being from Origins 1980 it would make a nice bookend piece.

Who is the bidder with Zero Feedback helping to push this over $8K?

Whenever that happens, it's definitely suspect.

Hmmm.  This auction is getting press:

http://www.avclub.com/article/original- ... bay-247000

Could be a legit buyer that saw the article and decided to jump on EBay.  Who knows where this could go now.

This is turning into a real "found a 1951 Mickey Mantle in my grandma's attic" situation - fun watching it unfold for you, Jan.
