I dont know guys....are we sure this is really bclarkie? Zombies and ghouls can type cant they? How do we know its really him?

Okay because I thought about Gauntlet I remembered another game I liked playing but can't for the life of me remember what it was called.
So am asking if anyone recalls said computer game maybe 15 years old or so: This game was 3d perspective, like what I can best describe - the I6 Ravenloft maps, fantasy orientated, remember some puzzles involved placing items on floor pads, but the one thing that I'm hoping jogs some memories - the spell/magic system involved learning/finding runes in the form of sign language.

Anyone know what the hell this game is?

My first thought was Descent to Undermountain, but I don't recall that having a magic system as you described.

It sounds like one of the Ultima games if not the one Jason pointed out, although I wouldn't rule out it being one of the Wizardry games as well like Mars said. Another option might be one of the Temple of Apshai games.

It's not Bard's Tale, that I can assure you. I assume its not Apshai either. I played Temple of Apshai a looong time ago so I dont remember it very well but it doesnt have a 3D perspective.

I just remembered that the two Ultima Underworld games were 3D perspective and used a rune-based magic system.

I've only played all the way through Bard's Tale 1 and just parts of 2 & 3, so I wasn't sure if maybe there might have been parts he might have been refering to that I hadn't played yet.

Eye of the Beholder used the AD&D magic system and Wizardry used code words for spells IIRC. I remember the spell TILTOWAIT because it was essentially a nuclear explosion.
