NTRPGCon Forum - Index page

You can't. Long story short, I got tired of waiting for the NTRPG con forums to go back up. Doug decided not to bring them up until after the con (if at all) due to the large amount of work involved (we should get an entirely different website, but that's an even different issue). Not wanting to wait until after the con to have a forum, I started my own "unofficial" forum with the help of Jonathan Perkel. It is completely separate from the NTRPG con website, you have to have a new name, log in, etc to reach it.  Doug has so far shown no interest in linking from the NTRPG con website to the NTRPG con forums (sigh).  I'm not entirely sure he thinks forums are even necessary.  So the forums will continue at www.ntrpgconforum.com until Doug gets the old forums back, and probably even beyond.

Going to run my twisted and revised version of Jaquay's Classic "The Lost Temple" from The Book of Treasure Maps, I ran it a few months back and the bunch of us (six including Mike and Liz Stewart) had a great time.  My setup requires pregens and I just checked, all materials are present (including Taco Jon's great [pre-printed color map of the exterior of the temple), so no need to do anything but show up.  Can only take up to nine and it will be first come first served.  ....... We will have to start early because I'll be needed with so many people leaving and getting ready to go I don't want to miss saying goodbye to some of the guests and attendees.  I'll have more info on a sign up sheet at the bulletin board.  Rules are AD&D (mix of first and 2nd, basically if you played D&D pre-1999 you'll be fine).

Hi Mike - I'd  like to join - if you have room

Everyone appears to be having a great time so far.  I was in bbarsh's Tourney yesterday and it was TPK.  However, we accomplished a fair amount, and everyone seemed to have a good time.  Last night, I was in Kaskoid's game, Snakeriders of the Arondondo, and I am glad I did.  Kask has an interesting DM style and sometimes talked about this game mechanic or this spell variation came to be. I can't wait for my adventure today with Erol Otus and then the Eye of the Dragon adventure tonight.  Fun!  

Great Con! Just got back last night around Midnight. My thanks to Badmike and Doug and the rest of the folks that make this happen.

Having last been to this Con in 2010 - it has come a long way

Like everyone else here, I had a great time at the con.  It was all that was advertised and then some.

At some point I'll add some highlights but for now, I'll just say it was excellent!  Thanks to the Mike, Doug, and their army of volunteers for making it a great couple of days!

I had a blast at NTX this year, and I am highly grateful to Doug and Mike and everything they do to make this happen.  I was fortunate enough to help pack everything up and unload it, so I got a small taste of everything involved, and I'm sure that's just the proverbial tip of the iceberg.

Funniest moment: as I was heading to the men's bathroom, I see I guy run sheepishly out of the ladies' room and into the men's room.

Best moments(tie): 1) Eating breakfast with Larry Elmore. 2) Playing in the Eye of the Dragon adventure with Tracy Hickman as the DM.

Best quote: Tim Kask, "I put the TK in TPK."

There were some good conversations with several Acaeumites; bbarsh, Melnibonean, Badmike, grodog, ScketreWhisp, wjaehnig, Stratochamp, Mizzle, and too many more to remember.  This is a great community of fine people, and I count myself fortunate to be in this community.

I was in two of Erol Otus' adventures:


Erol's adventure was a mid-level 1st Ed AD&D adventure where we, literally, were attacked by 200 1/2 HD sea-crab-like monsters in a room just tall enough to crawl in.  We made the fateful decision to cast fireball in the middle of the party which, thankfully, did not kill us all.  "Meat's back on the menu for supper boys!"  Here's our party right before we thought we were going to die.


Tracy Hickman himself DM'ed Eye of the Dragon.  smarmy1, Stratochamp, wjaehnig, and Kingofpain89 were also present.  I was quite pleased with the adventure and our experience but will not include any spoiler alerts here.


I was graciously allowed to join Steve Winter's Gamma World adventure, 20,000 Centimeters Beneath the Sea, even though it was full (all 8 players showed).  smarmy1, Kingofpain89 and someone else, Jason?, were all in this game, and it was a blast.  I played in two of Steve's games two years ago, and love the way he DM's.  I had never played any other RPG in my life until this game of Gamma World.  I was a 9' tall humanoid with large hands, which proved quite useful in our underwater adventure.  I saved smarmy's life at one point as a room was flooding with something and the only way out was through the ceiling.  My "Repulsion" power also helped our team as we blew up the bad guy at the end as I used it to form a force field over the blast to concentrate its damaging effects.  I might have to try this again, especially if Steve Winter is DM'ing again.
