Or rather it would have been a nice catch if written in US English.

Huh, wasn't aware that it was a pondism. I just looked it up on dictionary.com, which seems to indicate that the two spellings are interchangeable; I was always taught that only "toward" is correct, but whatever. I know for sure that "definately", "seperate", "rediculous", and "neccesary" are all misspellings, on both sides of the Atlantic.

"definate" used to be an acceptable form of the word.

Or, at least...you know...I thought it was.

What about "dilemna" with an n instead of a second m? Apparently it was taught this way a few decades ago, i.e. to the Acaeum generation. Anyone else remember it?

I was watching the British Prime Minister's Questions on CSPAN tonight.

Great fun watching the members of Parliament being rude to each other and all the verbal sniping and bad blood.

I wish the American political system had something like this....instead of all the sneaking and innuendo and just plain stupid maneuvering, wouldn't it be cool if American leaders had to prove their brain power and speaking skills in a back and forth like this on live TV?

The Labour leader was shouting about all the millionairs financing the Conservatives.  The Prime Minister said (basically) that the money raised by the Conservatives is fundamentally different than the money Labour gets from the unions.  The unions select Labour's members, determine their policy, tell them what to say and give Labour's leaders their direct orders for their block votes.  (Pretty much like that.)  I guess the Prime Minister got the last word because he has the upper hand at the moment, or something like that.

I'd like to see party leaders like Obama and Romney (current defacto leader) go at it with gloves off....nothing but brains, speaking skills and preparation.  Romney's intelligence would be handicapped by his unlovely ambition and vindictiveness.  Obama is charismatic, but he wouldn't be able to speechify and generally be pompous with counterattacks launched straight into his face.

I have a suspicion that certain American political leaders wouldn't last long with their lack of wits exposed while constituents watch on national TV.  Washington's Senator Patty Murray springs to mind.  (Unarmed in a battle of wits.)

Tonight, the British Prime Minister called the Labour MP's "muttering idiots."  The speaker called for him to retract this "unparlimentary word," but the PM was only willing to "modify" his words to "the leaders of the Labour Party" (or something like that).  Brilliant!

Party members shout, "Hear! Hear!" when one of their own stands up to get in a jab or ask a question.  Then the opposing party shouts out crap at their opposite numbers.  What fun! And how refreshing!

Meanwhile, in America, everyone poops out a brick when a congressman shouts, "You lie!" during a Presidential speech.  In Britain, this would apparently be standard behavior.

If I was into Death Pools, he'd be at the top of my list. His life is pretty much circling the shitter.

DC has announced that Green Lantern will come out as their newest gay superhero.
Just in case anybody here has been following along with this.

It's Alan Scott the Golden Age Green Lantern that they apparently retconned once again back to a teenager from Earth-2 which ceased to exist after Infinite Crisis but now exists again because apparently DC doesnt have a clue about what they're doing.  They have already cancelled six of their "New 52" titles because they sucked so badly and replaced them with six that frankly sound just as bad.  It's their own fault really.  They put Geoff Johns in creative control over their comic line and the first thing he does is reboot the entire universe....again.  The second thing he did was hire Rob Liefeld....which was infinitely worse if you ask me.  The man is a no-talent ass-clown.  :batman:

Bringing back all the various earths for no reason at all (Crisis had already cleaned that up in the 80s) is the death knell for DC, if hiring Liefeld wasn't.  I might never purchase a DC comic again in my life, actually.  Marvel still hasn't taken the suicidal step to "retcon" everything and I hope they won't.

Maybe my brain is not remembering correctly but wasn't Infinity Crisis a Marvel thing not a DC thing?  You know with Adam Warlock and Thanos et al.

Marvel's was called The Infinity Gauntlet.  Thanos assembled all of the Infinity Gems and wiped out half of the living beings in the universe, killed all the Marvel superheroes with a blink of an eye, and then started doubting himself and subconciously altered all of reality where he never killed anyone and made it possible for the heroes to beat him.  Infinite Crisis was one of the latest big DC crossovers that was supposed to "fix" a lot of the continuity problems that Crisis on Infinite Earths caused and Zero Hour never managed to correct.  In the end it got rid of all the alternate Earths and DC had one Prime Earth that all the heroes lived on.

There were also other Marvel Limited Series, Infinity Abyss, Infinity War, and Infinity Crusade.  Finally, DC had a line of Comics, Infinity Inc. that ran to 53 issues, I think, and had two Annuals.   8)  The Infinity Gauntlet was quite good, in my opinion, but it's been years since I read it. :)

Speaking of which....Thanos Quest (immediately preceding the Infinity Gauntlet) is my favorite series of all time...highly recommended!

Which one do we live on? I don't see many heroes.

although I don't post much, I registered for this board a long time ago.  At that time, I registered with a username that I've since discarded at other AD&D forums in favor of "EOTB".

I tried to change this here, just for sake of consistency, but when I go to the user control panel my username is not in a box I can edit, unlike my email address or password.  Although at the bottom the instructions tell me I can change my username if I enter my password (which I have).

Am I missing something?  (Wouldn't be the first time  :) )  Do I need a certain number of posts to unlock the ability to change my name?  I'm posting here because it's the only thread I see that would seem to apply to board related issues like this.

Thanks; as I said, I don't post much because in comparison I don't have the breadth of knowledge in the various printings, and the bulk of my collection is stuff I wouldn't have to worry about getting a pepperoni stain on if used at the table.  But I greatly appreciate the site as a resource for figuring out if pricing on items is around the mark, or priced for eager people willing to pay high $, and lurk here practically daily.
