stratochamp wrote in Interesting Items Currently on eBay:It's a nice item Allan, but I wouldn't say "nice box". The box looks like it was on the losing end of a wizard battle...

muaddib5 wrote in Interesting Items Currently on eBay: Dungeons Dragons Original RARE Woodgrain Box Gygax TSR Odd | eBay Here's a new one to watch. We can see if any of our theories hold water! :DThis set is well LOVED. The seller rates it as, "Good- Very Good - See pics". I'm interested as to what other members grading would be on this set. I already have a grading in mind that I would assign it. At the $1400.00 current bid price, according to our own estimated values page, the set should be between Fine and Very Fine condition.Rulebooks IndexIs the seller a member here?

Am i wrong or there are 2 ebuyers a bit confused about current prices for a woody?!?I was the seller on this one and I was very unhappy to part with this one. My personal grading goes from Poor, Acceptable, Good, Very Good, Near Mint, Mint. This is well within the Good range - I've seen many worse ones and this one is a pretty sweet one- I bought it for my personal collection(which is getting smaller by the day), but a $2,000 car repair came at a bad time . I purposefully grade very lightly because it is such a subjective thing- I prefer to lead with pics and details rather than pin a specific grade on something.I don't really follow the pricing on Acaeum when I price most of the rare or mint stuff, since I find it to be incorrect fairly often for these particular items, much to the dismay of most members (I am not saying that what is offered here or the opinions that you guys have are invalid- I just mean I think that some of the pricing is not in tune to the market at this time). I post the auctions with as much information and as many pictures as I can, detailing every aspect that may be important to a collector. Then I set a price I think is fair based on my research and let the bidders decide. You guys really like to argue about things that I just leave in the hands of the bidders- if its too high, then I don't sell it, if its too low, it gets snatched up with the BIN in an hour. The market will tell me what its worth and as someone who prefers to make a profit, I have to trust the bidders will know what they want. I think any argument against pricing, unless its fraud or a scam or so out of line it hits the most ridiculous price thread, is a useless waste of time when you are talking about the free market. Providing information, guidelines and opinions are great, and much needed, but to denigrate sellers or call buyers uninformed is highly irresponsible. Disagree, but then eat crow when the free market proves you wrong I have had hundreds of transactions over the past 3-4 years on ebay, amazon, FB with a lot of buyers, (many with you guys too) and have never had a complaint about what someone has purchased, with the exception of something that was missing from a shrinkwrapped Silver anniversary box set!! You guys wouldn't have even been able to discuss this particular auction in detail if I hadn't been so thorough with my pics and description!I think that this buyer got a great deal on an item that is extremely rare and in good shape, and which I would have preferred to keep myself

aia wrote in Interesting Items Currently on eBay:dragonsbreath wrote in Interesting Items Currently on eBay:Sorry did my comment hurt you? In case pls let me know why as i didnt want to start a discussion over it... Did you find the final price fair? Then i am happy you got 2k out of that deal. Against any subjective perspective i would love to be able to sell with that kind of "closing rate", it is out of discussion that it is out of any recent sale for a similar item. Ciaoo

What happened with the original sale on this? Did the buyer return it?
