Hi,

after all these comments, I think I'll be Going Postal...

Cheers,
Malc

PS actually we're off to be Extras in the upcoming Terry Pratchett movie, shooting in a Hungarian Castle.
Our hotel is in Pest, but on the banks of the Danube, so we can see Buda from the room :)

Hi,

can't remember which thread it was, but someone was saying it was gonna be very expensive to get to Gencon.

I was asking one of my friends, who hasnt got much money, and this year it is costing him £703 for flights and hotel from the UK. Hotel is within walking distance of the convention. A not inconsiderable sum, but not a fortune either.

I havent asked him for details, but if anyone is interested for next year, I can do.

Cheers,
Malc

cheaper than I thought actually (although depends on how long the stay is for)

But unfortunately that, along with time away and justifying the cost and experience to my wife (who kinda humours me on the whole subject of AD&D) it just isn't going to happen....  :(

Cheers
Dave

Hi,

I think he's in Indy for 5 nights, plus travelling time.

But I know what you're saying.

Cheers,
Malc

Hi,

well, I've just checked-in online for the flight tomorrow.

Leaving for the airport tomorrow morning extra early - 5 sets of road works between here and Heathrow!  8O

I hope the champagne is correctly chilled in the airport lounge  :D

Cheers,
Malc

My flight on Thursday may get me in too late for this meet-up.  It will be close so I will see if I can make it in time.

Big favour to ask:  I wonder if anyone could pick up a book or two for me?

I draw the line at collecting... D&D beach towels.

Shoulda been: ".. from Pangreenia to Floratopolis, from mystical Treeonia of spectral Forests to Schruborial dimensions." - The Forests of Leng

Hi,

I put a Uk only 4th ed announcement t-shirt in pre-reg.

Only about 200 made - all in purple, not black like the American ones :)

And very few in the (ahem) larger sizes :)

Cheers,
Malc

I got a room near the airport like I did last year (much cheaper than downtown...), and got a room with two double beds.

So, if anyone is looking for a last-minute bed for the convention, feel free to e-mail me here. All I would ask is to split the costs for the days you stay (super cheap).

And if you wish, you could drive with me to and from the con. I get there early every day, and leave at the end of the day.

RPG’s, D&D in particular has had a major influence in my life. It’s bonded me together with life long friends...it’s that bond in life not just as friends, but in our jokes, our mannerisms, and what we find funny. Invincible Overlord

Some freebies are at the WotC booth if you ask for them and/or sign up for some stuff.  See http://www.enworld.org/forum/general-rp ... n-con.html for details and pics.

Back home from GenCon and I have to say that a good time was had by all again.  It's just too bad that dbartman wasn't able to make the trip with me this year like he had the past two, but it's important that he remain happily married.

I was fortunate to participate in the Acaeum campaign run by Bracton and it was a great time.  My son also got to play and he commented afterwards how much fun it was to play with the guys.  It was also great to get to see Bracton and Stratochamp again, and to meet and play with the Invincible Overlord, Prufrock, and Blackmoor and his son.

Bidding was tough in the auction trying to go up against the likes of Bracton and Stratochamp, but I did manage to pick up two items - nothing major, mind you.  I also saved Bracton a bit of money by bowing out on the Geomorphs early since I knew his determination was greater than mine.  I'm sure he appreciated it after the price he had to pay for the Fineas figures.  I also picked up a few great items from the Burnt Wire brothers booth and some misc. Dragon mags. at T&T.

Looking forward to next year.
