How the hell do you find a spot to lay down and sleep without having rocks stick in your arse?

well i know it sounds funny, but after a while you a. simply dont care and b. you are too tired to think about it too much or c. you just get used to it.

its an "extreme" race, so everything relates around that format. and i mean literally everything.

in the tents, you sleep on top of a moroccan rug. some take a sleeping mat (many diff kinds). i didnt. i took a thin thing which was designed to retain your body warmth and not allow the cold to rise and make you freeze (which you do!).

worked perfectly. but needless to say, its still uncomfortable sleeping on the floor and you dont really get a good sleep all week while there. i prb slept about 11 hours in 6 days. and thats the truth.

there is the first of a series about this on BBC4 tonight - an hour long per episode.

Any idea if youre on it?

Cheers,
Malc

hello mate - ummm dunno. they were filming the brits and i was travelling with the aussies, so not sure if i would be on it or not. if i am, it will be a fleeting glance in the background really. i didnt bother watching that (its repeated from a week or so ago) because the footage is flawed...they show too much of one thing and not enough of the whole - shame really.

the guy who is being filmed "cookie", i walked and talked with him a fair bit. the poor lad was in a pretty bad way really, but what a great guy. he deserves his 15mins of fame. prb quite interesting to watch, but as i said, flawed footage. shame they didnt film AT ALL, Ian Sharman, who managed to come 13th overall...the highest position for a brit.
