The Mayor of Indy has even just been shown on the news over here, telling people not to drive!

Cheers,

At least the Colts won....tha ought to keep you guys warm!

One of the better weekends of playoff football in memory...two of my most disliked NFL teams lost in soul-crushing defeats (Packers and Eagles), my favorite AFC team won (Chargers), and the Chiefs/Colts game was one for the ages (and I got to text LOL all my Missouri relatives that were blowing up my cellphone all season with the Chiefs exploits.....sweet!).  It looks like letting Manning go for Luck was the right move....now just got to hope for a Colts/Broncos AFC championship!

And oh yeh, you guys drive safely, that looks ridiculous up there.

Devon had to go to work for an emergency power outage last night at 10PM, his Jeep made it just fine. The roads were very bad though. He had the power back on in 5 minutes and got paid for 7 hours :)

The Colts game was awesome!!

Keep on hatin' my Eagles with your .500 team there Mike. Next year don't expect us to go out in the first round like that again btw. I fully expect the Cowgirls to go 8-8 again, however.

Someone sold their soul decades ago for a good cause, it's kept the Beagles from hoisting a Lombardi trophy for 48 years and counting....!

BTW, if I enter Visa's "Football Fantasy Sweepstakes" and win, will they make my fantasy of Jerry Jones disappearing off the face of the earth come true? Or are some fantasys just to hard to make come true?

when the eagles last won an nfl title in 1960, the game ended with the retiring two-way ironman (who played 58 minutes in the game at center and linebacker) Chuck Bednarik lying on top of the Jim Taylor as the last seconds ticked off the clock. That was the first playoff game in Lombardi's career and his only loss. He won his last nine playoff games on his way to 5 nfl titles.

I work in the claims department for an auto insurer... this has been the worst winter in quite some time... ice storms, lengthy power outages, heavy snow, really low temps and cold snaps.  And still 100 or so days til the first hint of mild weather  :?  I hope all our mid-west friends are warm & safe.

I draw the line at collecting... D&D beach towels.

Chuck Bednarik was a tougher man than every Dallas Cowboy combined. The picture of him with a scotch in one hand, a cigar in his mouth and a cigarette in his other hand is legendary. Seriously, I don't think they make guys like him any more.

So, you're telling me Jerry Jones is basically immortal then?  Crap!

Eh, Bednarik might have been tough, but Emmitt Smith played a win-or-go-home game in 1993 with a dislocated shoulder, rushed for 168 yards and caught 10 passes while winning the rushing title and getting his team a first round bye (on the way to their 3rd Lombardi trophy).  One of the gutiest performances in NFL history...he basically played the 2nd half with one arm.  I think even Chuck would have tipped his cap to Emmitt after that one. He was in agony from the 2nd half on (you can watch the game on Youtube; look at Emmit's face after some of his runs).   The stiff-arm he gave LT with his nearly useless arm was insane.

Mike B.

But not all was rosy for the Cowboys. Late in the first half, on what proved to be his longest run of the game, a 46-yard burst off right tackle, Smith was tackled by Giants safety Greg Jackson, falling hard on his right shoulder. Instead of popping right back up, as he usually did, Smith stayed on the Giants Stadium turf, which was essentially asphalt painted green. Team trainers escorted a ginger Smith to the sideline. "Something happened in my shoulder that I never felt before," he said later, "I had never known pain like that."

When X-rays showed a separated shoulder, the Cowboys' doctors and trainers told Emmitt there was nothing they could do for him. He had two choices: sit out the rest of the game or play with his shoulder in its present condition. Smith didn't bat an eye; he told them he was going to play. At halftime, the training staff got creative, fashioning a special pad for his shoulder by taping together a pair of knee pads and cutting a hole in the middle of them.

A doctor gave Smith a shot and a pill to help dull the pain, but it only took a little of the edge off of it. Smith recalls, "They told me, ‘Now, you're going to have some discomfort,' and they were right. The whole second half, I'm saying, ‘No pain, no pain,' trying to convince myself." One look at Smith's face during that fateful second half told the real story, however: there was pain - a lot of it.

New York's first overtime possession was derailed by a 15-yard chop-block penalty. After the Giants' punt, Johnson asked Smith once more if he could go; Emmitt, who had launched a second-half tirade at Johnson during which he told his coach that, if he was going to be in the game, he needed to be used as a weapon, not a decoy, said, "Let me play until I can't play." And indeed he did, touching the ball nine times (including the final five plays) and gaining 41 yards on the 52-yard drive that resulted in Eddie Murray's 41-yard game-winning and division-clinching field goal with a little more than four minutes left in overtime. One play before the field goal, he used his useless right arm to deliver a stiff-arm to the Giants' All-World linebacker Lawrence Taylor, gaining a few extra yards on a 10-yard run.

In total, Smith had what was, to that point, his busiest day as a professional, running 32 times for 168 yards (earning his third consecutive league rushing title in the process) and catching 10 balls for another 61 yards. All with a severely separated shoulder. Of his 229 total yards, Smith gained 78 after the injury. He also gained the respect of both locker rooms; even the Giants, who had continued to hit him as hard, and as often, as they could after the injury, acknowledged that what he had done was amazing.

I received an e-mail today that was initially in my SPAM box, but the title looked legit, so I released it to my inbox.  The title was, "Question about item number #108192700173."  The graphics were all appropriate and the layout was almost spot on for an eBay question e-mail.  Fortunately, I looked in my eBay account and there were no questions.  Then I looked up item #108192700173 and nothing came up.  I am confident that if I had clicked on that link, something negative would have happened, or been downloaded, onto my computer.  It's disconcerting how good these phishing e-mails are becoming.   :?

I've had a few of these.  I ALWAYS go to the Ebay website first.  Yes they look spot on. Actually this form of phishing has been around for years.

Another was a scarily accurate Paypal email that they needed your approval before they ok'd a large sale on ebay from your paypal account for a "suspicious purchase" (almost always a watch or piece of jewelry...but if you looked up the # it was a made up invoice). Wanted you to click a link to go to "ebay" and confirm the sale. Everything looked on the up and up on those also.

Nice to know that my state used to be considered "almost normal".  A position that could be taken only by someone unfamiliar with our politicians.

In any case, would it be correct to assume that The Daily Mash is the English equivalent of The Onion?  I note, for example, that the page includes links to articles such as "Britain looks out of window and says f*ck," "Large Breasted Women Get It All Their Own Way Again" and "Samsung unveils drug-inspired products".
