Maybe it was a keyboard mistake...then again, maybe not. :D

Hector.

Powells, like Amazon, often has some ludicrous prices for "rare" gaming materials.

Powells is not really game savvy.  Although these two listings are "ludicrous," most of their prices are just "high."

This listing just made my day:

Overpriced common items + ridiculous shipping + clueless seller = having a laugh at someone else's expense.

That what happens when someone that sells "Platinum Pro Audio and Guitar Gear" attempts to sell a bunch of D&D stuff. :)

It's "vintage."  That's even better than "rare."

Yes, but the description was lifted from the Acaeum web site without an acknowledgement.  Even the hyper links to the 'table', the Dungeon Geomorphs, and the Monster & Treasure Assortment, point back to the Acaeum.  8O

If you compare the description the seller has for the box set as opposed to the one on this site, you will notice something missing:

http://www.acaeum.com/ddindexes/setpages/basic.html

Five pre-colored dice in a small poly bag (no D10 or dice crayon)

8O

However, the seller does mention the dice are missing later in his auction listing.

Hello Mrs. Cleaver, Theodore.

Gee, Mrs. Cleaver ... That certainly is a lovely dress.

A quick search shows a few examples selling for around the $40 range...so why this seller decided to list theirs for $163 is beyond me. Maybe they are hoping grandma wants to buy one for Billy, and chooses this one because it is new???

3.5 sells just fine when you have the right ones, lol.  Give it another five or ten years and the stuff will finally go back over cover price, chuckle.

This one, on the other hand is pushing it.

And this would be my generous estimate:

PBH - 40

DMG - 30

MM - 20

MM2 - 25

MM3 - 25

Complete Arcane - 20

Complete Warrior - 20

Complete Adventurer - 20

Complete Scoundrel - 20

Complete Divine - 25

Libris Mortis - 20

Draconomicon - 25

Fiendish Codex I - 30

Manual of the Planes - 10

Deities & Demigods - 10

So you're only high by $200.00...

Yeah,  and I just bought the Player's Hand Books 1 and 2, Dungeon Master's Guide, and the Monster Manual 1, 2, & 3 for less than $18.00.   :P
