NobleKnight (not exactly the paragon of bargains) has one in "EX/NM" condition at $175.  And Frank is pretty easy to find at conventions, and he's always happy to sign.  So, yeah, a bit overpriced.

I'm being completely honest when I say I have more of these signed by Frank than not signed by Frank.....

We discussed it more over @ A Gary Gygax Biography in October!

FWIW, I haven't finished it yet, not that motivated to do so thus far.

I'm about halfway through EoI.   Pretty good so far, an easy quick read.

Unlike grodog ;-) I'm inspired to finish it soon since I have the "new" Tolkien book and Hiero's Journey (original Gamma World-like novel from the 70s) stacked up behind it.

Hiero's Journey is a great read, as is the sequel.  Sadly  Sterling Lanier passed before he finished the trilogy (at least I have never found any data on it, even an unfinished manuscript could have been finished by another....bummer).

After the Robert Jordan series 'The Wheel of Time", I decided never to read another series until the last book is published.

Available now from Die Cast Games: Night of the Black Swords by Allen Hammack (Author of C2-The Ghost Tower of Inverness) with artwork by Jeff Easley and Diesel.

I actually heard about Hiero Journey from a comic store owner back in the mid 80s.  He could not recall author, took me a few years before I found the book listed in the "Other Reading" section of the Players Handbook..I think..might have been the DM Guide. (which I had owned all this time.....ah the pre-internet days when researching was actually physically hard work).

It was only a few years later I found there was even a sequel and planned trilogy, but did not find out about the missing 3rd volume till after tracking down and buying the second. (Unforsaken Hiero).  Not sure why he never finished the series, he lived till 2007 and these books were written in 70s, 80s.......perhaps he got bored with the story and lost sight of where he was going with it?  Still a bummer.

But I agree with your point, makes sense to wait for an announced trilogy to complete before investing the time into it.   :)

I completely agree.  Joe Abercrombie is good at keeping quality epics down to trilogies (the First Law trilogy is very good).

Well, I did not know there was a part 2, so thank you!

In researching my Gamma World adventure for NTX16, I stumbled across a review of the system where the reviewer likened it to many themes in "Hiero's Journey", even saying that TSR may have grabbed several concepts from Lanier's book, like mental mutations, animal mutants, and many of the apocalyptic factions.  I was intrigued enough to find a copy of HJ on eBay to read.

Early Tractics box sets are a mess.  This was pretty common for the early TSR sets.  The Guidon box sets were a mess also.  There were different releases of the books cobbled together all of the time.
